👌.. lovely.. rabbit brilliant healthy tasty meat. Very versatile.  Rabbit goujons,  rabbit and mushroom pie, list goes on.. your lucky you still have rabbit's around you.  All the pockets of rabbit's I use to have are gone.  Traditionally I would have hunted/shot them with my springers the month of February after the game shooting ended.. But I'm asked shooting rabbit's Sunday,  it's in a different county, about a hour away but it'll be worth it, bit of hunting,  few shots , and some rabbits for the pot😋

Nice clean looking plate of protein there!

Good to see them being used for human consumption. I used to shoot the odd one whilst out roughshooting and always made use of them. Very much like chicken and I bet if cooked as a substitute for chicken in many dishes and served up to the unexpecting, then they probably would be none the wiser.

The last Rabbit ''in fact I ate two'' was over in Spain and they were roasted. I think they must have been wild rabbits as they had not very much meat on them. A large tray of them and it was a case of help yourself.

I would eat a ferreted rabbit but given the choice i would head shot a 3/4 grown called a  fryer up here i think thats one of the best tender meats

We called 3/4 grown rabbits grazers. Weren't available in any numbers till  June/July.  Head shot with. 22 , marinated in mayonnaise and dry spices and put on a hot charcoal BBQ.  rabbit's this time of year  stews, casseroles,  or pressure cooked with smoked bacon off cuts,  then onion,  sweetcorn,  mushrooms,  along with Campbell's condensed mushroom soup and cream,  with a puff pastry top, for best tasting pie ya ever ate. Or pressure cook meat,  then flour, egg, seasoned breadcrumbs dropped into hot oil for finger licking goujons.. I have alot of respect for the humble rabbit.🙂

I shot these with a .22 RF I love rabbit cooked in a slow cooker with all the different veg then a couple of boiled spuds then added to the casserole.  I used to take a roasted rabbit to work with some salt and 🍞  I am lucky with the fact that eat most of what I shoot

Some great ideas for cooking rabbit. I still have them on one farm I shoot but we are careful not to shoot too many, just enough to keep the population density fairly stable.

Exactly this i could have taken up to a dozen but shot enough for what i needed the one Doe i shot was in young early February so hopefully a bumper crop for next season  if Myxy don't get them 😒

I tried keeping rabbits for meat a few years ago, New Zealand cross type, massive things. It was alot of hassle as I tried to give them a good run and space. Then they started to breed and then fight, they are quite vicious with each other and then I found that they weren't as tasty as wild rabbit, so I ate what I had and didn't get any more.

My father tried exactly that as a teenager in the late 1930’s.
