Seiko vs Seiko ?.

Hi gang.

            I fancy the Prospex gmt at £1400 or the Blueberry at £400. Both dive watches.

           They are very similar to look at but how can there be a thousand pound difference ?.

           I'm more tempted for the Prospex.

The prospex goes to 200m, the blueberry 100m for a start.

 

The prospex is based on a 1968 classic and in my opinion is a way better looking watch.

 

If it were me though. I’d go for a cheaper dive watch and then get a classic like a pogue or a citizen bullhead.

Of the two you’ve chosen is go prospex.

 

You could get a nice longines divers for similar money

Surely that’s like the wife asking why you need a Perazzi/Krieghoff when there is a perfectly good ATA on the rack.

People don’t NEED expensive stuff but if you like it and can afford it it then why not.

I had/have a TAG watch but decided I had such a crap year last year (lower leg amputation) that I decided to treat myself and bought a Tudor Black Bay 58.

A very good choice of watch.

I have been trying out a Steeldive 1975 , they have Seiko movements in and basically are a Seiko copy, have to say very impressive watch for not a lot of money, I wear it without fear of damage, I keep my expensive watch for showing off when I go out.

What's the point having a watch that's waterproof to 200 meters. You can't dive that deep. 

Unless you were planning a trip in the Titan.

What's  the point of a car  that does 100 mph when you can't drive that fast, unless you're planning a trip to a race track! What's the point of anything?

I have the green tuna, after 2 years it lost some time, i demagnatised it and with a slight adjustment it runs at +3 seconds fully wound which evens itself out over the day and is very accurate.
I have a nato strap which i interchange if wearing it for days at a time, but it is a tank of a watch and could take a good battering.

I’ve got a Hamilton Khaki divers watch which is a good quality watch for not too much money, around £800 (a brand worth looking at)
With watches, a bit like guns the difference in quality is quite apparent when handling them.
