Because many people here now don't share the same values.  This can be for various reasons;

  • The may have been brought up elsewhere where values are different and a different culture exists (for example anti-Semitism is common in Muslim countries).
  • They may have been brought up here, but in a family with different values (similar to above).
  • They won't have had values impressed on them in school (I understand they are much more 'multicultural' now which avoids many topics seen as 'patriotic' or with 'cultural/religious sensitivities).

I think the main reason is that people who have come here have not adopted 'our values', but have held on to their own values.  This is difficult, because I can see that people want to recognise and conform with their own historical cultures as part of their roots.  But - where there is conflict with our (their current chosen country in which to live) they should respect our cultures.  Whether they should 'follow' our culture is more tricky, but they certainly should never 'oppose' or act in any way against the culture of the country in which they have chosen to live.

For example, I see no reason why anyone who doesn't wish to should show any sign of remembrance - e.g. I don't criticise anyone for not wearing a poppy.  But everyone should respect those who do wish to observe remembrance, and that means not vandalising memorials, not being disruptive to, or disrespectful of events such as parades and commemorative silences, etc.

It is not only other cultures, if you remember in 2022 a Capt. Tom Moore memorial was vandalised (and in a very unpleasant way) by an 'environmental protester'.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-derbyshire-63135434

A lot of those attending these marches are not foreign or Muslim, but of British the left and drafted from their indoctrination centres (formerly known as Universities).

I trust that the morons will not spoil Remembrance Sunday. If they do, they will be seen for exactly what they are. People died so that these idiots have the freedom to ruin the country for others.

Braverman talks sense, but the Civil Service will not like it. As with Priti Patel, there will be rumblings about her wanting action and upsetting a few gentle souls, who seem surprisingly unaware of the Civil Service Code.

There needs to be a shake up at the top of the Civil Service and the Police. They seem to have forgotten that they are here to serve and protect. I would also get rid of City Mayors - another layer of useless bureaucracy.

Braverman may well talk sense, but she may as well talk at the wall.

The Police now seem to simply ignore the Home Secretary and do whatever they like (which by and large seems to be as little as possible).

My own guess is that many rank and file officers would be supportive of the Home Secretary's views, but we seem to have the 'woke and wet' at the higher levels - along with very expensive Police and Crime Commissioners (PCC) who have a whole team (all at taxpayers expense) who seem to do .......... absolutely nothing of any practical nature.

braverman and sense must be why she’s now under fire for saying homeless is a lifestyle choice while thousands of ex servicemen freeze under canvas on the streets lest we forget? try Tory’s couldn’t care less!

You think it was better under labour?
There are not thousands of veterans on the street estimates from 2021 were 100-400.
And belive me as a Veteran with PTSD who left the military as blair came to power and tried desperatly to get treatment for years under labour they couldn't care less.I ended up finding my own specialist and paying out of my pocket to try and sort my mind.I also live in Wales where health is under Labour, treatment is dire for Veterans, while the labour government spout on about the military covenant, it's just hot air and sound bites.

I’m not saying being homeless is a lifestyle for all, but for some it genuinely is.
The Glass Castle is an astonishing book by the daughter of a couple who although very wealthy, chose to live like drifters and tramps in various towns in America, ultimately ending up in New York where they ratched through skips for a living.
