On Thursday of last week, February 15th I was viewing guns at Duke's sale room in Dorchester.
Someone stole my bore micrometer from a table in the viewing room.
I am a pensioner and I'm unlikely to be able to replace it.
Although it goes against the grain, I will pay a £50,  no questions asked, reward for its return.
My telephone number, if a responder wishes to remain anonymous, is 07778 274196.

I dont think he was selling the bore mic?

He says it was stolen from the viewing room. I thought that was where items were viewed prior to a sale ?

Perhaps @gustav can confirm this.

That is disgusting Alan,I know how expensive these are,it’s a big loss. Sad that you can’t leave anything out of your hands for a second these days. It may appear for sale on eBay or somewhere similar.

If it was a guns only sales room the person/s who stole it were possibly ticket holders, well If they were I hope they get caught and lose their ticket for theft, as you say disgusting.

I wonder if the sale room as cameras?

Yes Alan is a RFD, and there to check guns for sale I’m sure.Nice chap too!

I feel for Alan as Topgun749 says, he is a very nice and genuine guy to deal with. I sincerely hope that the perpetrator does the honourable thing and that he gets his bore micrometer back.

I have met Alan and he brought his bore micrometer with him. The only gun sale I ever made where someone checked wall thickness. Dead straight lad and a pleasure to deal with.

I hope he gets the micrometer back. It is a bit of a specialised tool to steal and whoever took it should hang their head in shame.

Whoever takes anything should hang their head in shame!

In fact, their head should be hung for them!

If the OP was there on business is the valuable item not insured?

Sadly not, as standard. It would be the OPs responsibility to keep it safe and has to take a level of care to keep it from theft. From the description it doesn't sound like the business took any responsibility for that item in any form of care, repair, responsibility.

Just..... sad.... if the SGC/FAC holder is found, I hope their licence is treated with as much disregard.

Maybe claim off his house insurance? My shooting related equipment, and firearms are insured this way.

If they have personal posesssions insurance whilst "out of home" then yes, but this may be negated if there is any due care issues.
They could contact the shop to view CCTV and if it were left on a table and unsupervised, you could argue it was negligent.

It is certainly worth a call all the same.
