Someone stole my bore micrometer from a table in the viewing room. I am a pensioner and I'm unlikely to be able to replace it. If it was a guns only sales room the person/s who stole it were possibly ticket holders, well If they were I hope they get caught and lose their ticket for theft, as you say disgusting. Dead straight lad and a pleasure to deal with. I hope he gets the micrometer back. It is a bit of a specialised tool to steal and whoever took it should hang their head in shame. It would be the OPs responsibility to keep it safe and has to take a level of care to keep it from theft. From the description it doesn't sound like the business took any responsibility for that item in any form of care, repair, responsibility. If they have personal posesssions insurance whilst "out of home" then yes, but this may be negated if there is any due care issues. They could contact the shop to view CCTV and if it were left on a table and unsupervised, you could argue it was negligent. It is certainly worth a call all the same.
