oldypigeonpopper
Hello, After a busy day helping Older Son i still did my usual walk down to the River Thames albeit a bit later than normal 8 pm ish and from the Lock to the down stream to the Bridge, if anyone knows Abingdon its 3 fields and just about every where in between the Rubbish left i would estimate could fill 2/3 Large Bins, Now we have people on their Narrow boats, local and holidays and always use the Lock Bins, People fishing take the rubbish home, The Culprits are big groups of local Youngsters and large family day trippers, Would it not hurt to bag up and leave by the Lock bins ??????!!!!!!!!, No , To far to walk !!!!!, Just as easy to leave on the grass, around the seats etc, or where they sat around the Barbecue, Saying this would Abingdon Town Council not think of Placing some Bins along the 3 Fields, NNNNNNOOOOOO, No money for Bin Collection, Leave your rubbish any where is their Motto , And this is just the Start of Summer !!!!!, I Despair 🤔🙄
sam triple
See it all the time they carry their stuff to the foreshore, consume it and leave the wrappers bottles and cans everywhere , with no thought or care about the horses or cows that may eat it not to mention the added plastics entering the sea, the worst are those that bag their dog poo and the leave it where it was laid or hang it from trees or bushes Edited June 27 by sam triple

No excuse in the countryside, stick and flick and let nature take its course

claydodger
Like everything else that ignorant people and crims do and get away with in this country, no deterrent, on the streets where we live ther is litter everwhere, every layby, carparks, even the access track to the range I used to go to was allways a dumping ground for lorry loads of ****. That reminds me of an incident many years ago. I was out in an unmarked Police vehicle, stopped at traffic lights, behind a car full of young lads. Of course all the windows were wide open, with the usual noise emerging from within. The next thing a takeaway dish was dropped out of the rear offside window. The lights changed and off they went. I jumped out of my vehicle and picked up their litter. I caught them up at the next set of lights, jumped out of my vehicle, and dumped the remains of the chips and curry upside down in the drivers lap. No words were spoken and no complaints were made ! 🤭
oldypigeonpopper
Hello, Thanks for replies, Will see if any better later but will not be surprised if same , I have even seen Holiday Boaters clearing away the rubbish, Would it be to much trouble and cost to place a large green bin/s in the main field April to October, We only have 1 chap who picks up litter in Town
oowee
We get stuff thrown on the common. Mostly drink cans. I will often take a bin bag with me and collect a few pieces as I walk across.

You'd be sacked these days and that's half the problem, a breakdown of our society, with over population, a softly, softly approach and no real deterrent and what we see today is the result. The problem is the good ones are definitely becoming fewer and further apart.
