Edtwozeronine
It's my Birthday tomorrow and feel like I'm stuck in a rut as far as Birthday treats go. I've fallen into a pattern of having chinese on my birthdays, Dry BBQ ribs, Special Chow Mein or Special Fried Rice, 6-8 mini spring rolls and Sweet Chili Sauce. I've tried and enjoyed most UK staples, Bolognese, All the milder British spins on Curry, Chili Con Carne, Fish N Chips, Chips N Burgers, Steak (cooked well done with Ketchup, of course!) Bell Peppers or Sweet Peppers, Onion and Musrooms with various meats tossed in a Deli Wrap of some sort; basically a UK spin on Mexican food. Oh, and of course all the usual roast things we brits do. For a while we had a restuarant near us that had strange meats for sale, so I've had horse, crocodile, ostrich, kangaroo, wild bore (not as pork-like as you'd expect!), trying and failing to remember the other oddities. I'm not a fan of anything with vinegar but open to most other posibilities. What you got?
Weihrauch17
That is some first post lol, welcome. Buy a decent cook book and whip something up, just don't take inspiration from the offerings on here 🤣
Lloyd90
If you want to stay somewhat close to Chinese find a really good Thai place, much better if you get a really good one. Giggling squid in Bristol is lovely.

PS: Todays Chinese failed to give me Dry BBQ Ribs, bad review on Trip Advisor incoming!

The food or your memory. 😵💫😵💫😵💫 Joking aside, perhaps I’ve a very slight head start on Thai food, B-in-law spent most of his life in Thailand even having a restaurant/bar on Ko Samui. We’ve street fooded Bangkok, Phuket, Chaing Mai, Chang Rai just to name drop and years back when Teohs had their cooking school in the Tobacco Factory I took a number of lessons there. many of restaurant starters and ingredients (noodles, bean sprouts,Tamarind etc) you can get in Wai Yee Hong in Eastgate. Nice cooking your own. Bob
