Not when religion is in the mix. You cannot reason with absolute belief. Forever war.

We managed it in NI. Even the Protestants and Catholics in Europe managed to reach a peace.

Sadly no doubt the first of very many. The price of 'winning' will be many deaths on both sides.

There must be a better way.

No one will win, each death will result in new recruits

The ira were infiltrated at the highest levels by the british military and other services, they knew that they were and that made them seek a peace deal.
And yes the labour government sold out our troops while giving a get out of jail letter to terrorists, and nothing has changed.

NI is a far better place than it was. Peace starts with small steps and hope for a better future. One side or both has to break the circle of hate. It takes a strong man or woman to stop the endless circle of violence and retaliation.

Blair together with the leaders of the respective sides made a difference. You can call it what you like, but NI is a better place for it.

Persecuting veterans in their 80's who die while waiting to be dragged through the courts , while known terrorists who killed and maimed go free with a letter from the labour government in their back pockets , Blair apart from being a liar and causing hundreds of thosands to die, also threw Veterans under the bus ,and it is continued by this labour government.

Break the circle of hate stop dragging Veterans into court.

every gov has treated veterans in the same disgusting manner first prosecution should have been yank fund raisers supplying guns which killed our boys but all that got was a coat of white wash!

It's different. The influence of religion is waning and as bat**** crazy as some people are in NI, they don't hold a candle to the Middle East.

Historically always the politico way, stand safe and hidden at the back then crucify the troops they pushed forwards?

On the anniversary of the 7/10 terrorist attacks, it's worth noting that Israel appear to be waiting for whichever is the latest Ayatollah to show a hair on his Imamah before sending him to meet his maker.

Perhaps the RAF can dig out some old Barnes Wallis Grand Slams to aid the bon voyage?

This.

In the west we have a habit of projecting western rationality into the Arab Israeli conflict and as such we’re not measuring apples with apples.

The Gary Lineker-esque ‘can’t we all just get along’ sentiments are frankly hilarious.

The Israelis will never get ontop of this ...you cant kill an ideology....ISIS is now on the rise again....

the more colateral damage they (Israel) does the more people will be turned to that ideology..........all that seems to be happening is this "action"..is spreading plans through out the world to imbedded believers....

it has the possibility of getting a whole lot worse....with the heads of govt and monachy targeted.........

i fear this is going to get very messy indeed...

The spread of terrorism then becomes an “us” problem - 1970s-style airport bombings, letter bombs, sporting events - not just rocket attacks on Israeli towns.
That drags the West into the fight. Israel becomes an ally (again) and Iran gets an invasion.
With that in mind, it appears better to sort out Iran now, before the trouble spreads to us.
