So the old chap down the road has a beautiful aviary with finches and canaries. He would need to register as they have access to open air in his aviary he also shows them and breeds a few.

Don't think he has ever used a computer so could struggle to register them.

Their next step will be to insist you have a license to grow veg in your garden, a cabbage lisence.

I shan't be taking part in this nonsense.

Not sure who is going to enforce it, maybe the facemask police have been reassigned.

Spot on, allegedly they are now able to do this from home whilst doing the washing up, walking the children to school and having an afternoon nap?

It's maybe associated with the political mania of collecting as much personal information as they can for future inclusion in the future face recognition camera system that's planned?

I reckon the government will hope that neighbours will "shop" their neighbours, as you say just who will police this new regulation?

Got to pay there wages some how , You can bet the paperwork will be easy to fill in , But try claiming for something you get a 50 page leaflet that a lawyer would struggle to fill in

My late mother in law had some pheasants that took refuge in her garden.
They didn't "belong" to her but were often seen pottering around on the lawn.
I guess situations like that could become awkward if you had neighbors who had it in for you.

Apparently the consultation that took place most people who responded did so with a view that it should only apply to those with >50 birds.

So they had the consultation, didnt listen to the views and decided it applied to everyone even one budgie in an outside aviary.

This actually was done with the conservative government in power although it has only just become law.

One presumes its just to let you know if there is a big outbreak of bird flu in the area so one can take measures to minimise your own birds getting it.

On the online registration it does ask you what sort of birds you have.

(Poultry, birds of prey, etc) but it does not go any deeper than that.

If they come back and ask what type of bird of prey i have i will tell them politely to sling their hook as that would be a step to far.
