my every day knife is a Buck 110 Folding Hunter, well built and keeps its edge and its not silly money like some of the knifes I have looked at.

Bought mine direct from Buck knifes, you can have the blade engraved….https://www.buck-store.co.uk/shop/knives?srsltid=AfmBOoqOqmALeCz031e-o4zf4mnZgYHufltD15LKGzjItLBICd70bjN2

Bit cheaper here...https://www.knivesandtools.co.uk/en/ct/buck-knives.htm

As you know your BiL better than any of us, have a look at both of the above recommended outlets and choose one that you'd like on the grounds that he might also.

Not saying anything further as I'm way out of order/date. Had a fall on Saturday night while doing a fox recce' and hurt my ribs - feeling sorry for myself and bored. A while back I bought some knives over a period which turned out to be just before  my body fell apart so they've had very little - if any - use and have just had a look at the prices now. What's going on? OK, we can forget the Buck Folding Kalinga Pro as it's discontinued but looks as though it's a collectors item so perhaps it's good that I didn't get to use it. But, Guys, have you seen the prices of a Puma Duke and a Spyderco Native 5? There's no way I'd pay that so can only assume the current prices have well and truly outstripped inflation.

Hello, Google for buck 110 or slightly smaller 112. Also worth a look is the opinel luxury range, ebony etc.

Cyclair is an online company I have used several times, all good experiences, but find the knives you are interested in an Google for companies to compare.

I only use heinnie hanes now as the choice and service is the best .

Plenty of different  categories so you can hone in on exactly what you want  .

I really like spyderco and real steel knives .

Definitely  look at the UK legal edc knives .as they can be carried all day .

Things to consider that make a great every day carry knife .

Folding

Deep carry pocket clip

One hand opening  (either blade hole or thumb stud )

G10  or micarta  scales

A straight  edged blade .so Wharncliffe  or sheeps foot  shape .they make sharpening much easier than a curved blade . Don't buy a recurved blade = almost impossible to sharpen well .

A good steel   will hold an edge well .

I would recommend

A spyderco    ukpk  or urban

Real steel solis  (it doesn't have a thumb stud but you can buy one to fit  - I did ) look at the titanium version  it's beautiful  .

I have one of these. Old school and classic design. Nice leather holster type thing too.
