Costs of jobs-possible inflation?

From next April anyone working 40 hours a week on the minimum wage gets a rise from £23,795 to £25,396,(6.7%) On top of this the employer has to pay an extra £1.032 a year in national insurance. Making a total of £2622 per employee. Naturally others on more than the minimum will expect to keep differentials,so they will also have a rise too. This year the minimum wage rise 9.8%, next year employers need to find 10.2% .The change in National Insurance is huge, but the Tory reduction to 8% employees contributions was a mistake now being clawed back from employers!

Wonder what this will do to inflation for all of us? Every thing we buy, council tax, utilities, services, transportation of goods.Only companies with 3 or 4 staff are exempt from paying the national insurance, but they still have to meet the minimum wage 6.7% rise. How will this not affect inflation? Can’t see companies absorbing it!

There are other ways to raise funds. Can’t understand how they can give away thousands in child benefit a year to parents getting up to £80,000 a  year, with no means test so they can be extremely wealthy in many cases , yet can’t afford a £200 heating allowance for pensioners on £11,400,with a means test!

I think they also take any saving into account before you can get pension credit

Hello, Oh that must come when you fill in the application as i have not seen on U Gove web site

Your savings and investments

If you have £10,000 or less in savings and investments this will not affect your Pension Credit.

If you have more than £10,000, every £500 over £10,000 counts as £1 income a week. For example, if you have £11,000 in savings, this counts as £2 income a week.

Yes savings over £10,000 is counted. For every £500 over they assume £1 a week income,so if someone has about £11500 and a pension of £214 a week it’s NO pension credit! If on the old pension of about £170 a week you could have up to £34,000 in savings approximately and be eligible for the heating allowance, possibly a council tax reduction etc.

👍 ,   It makes you think if it was all worth the struggle of Saving Money to fund retirement, I know a few people who never did and ended up better off than me,

I can't understand how they give thousands away in child benefit to children who are not even in the country and in many instances have never ever been in the country.

In fact why pay child benefit at all?

Governments know how to waste money and have strange priorities..
