TIGHTCHOKE
MilliBLAND is a complete *****. The company couldn't build the biggest blades now wanted on all the Sea borne wind farms and is in the wrong place for supplying the shorter blades for the land wind farms. So throw public money at it to save 300 jobs. Where is this money tree, I would love a couple of seeds from it.

TIGHTCHOKE Posted Friday at 10:50 Report Share Posted Friday at 10:50 They are trying to get the industry regulator to bring in options without the daily standing charge. In order to "HELP OUT" those who use little energy and find the standing charge a major part of their bill. It will still be expensive either way as the providers will not miss out. We have the most expensive electricity anywhere in the developed world and with the GREEN WASHING that is going on it will ONLY get MORE expensive. Renewable energy is the cheapest form of power in the world: Solar power In 2020, the International Energy Agency (IEA) concluded that solar power was the cheapest electricity in history. In the UK, the cost of solar power has fallen by 88% for utility-scale solar and 60% for rooftop solar panels since 2010. Renewables in general A 2021 report from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) stated that renewables are the cheapest source of power. In 2021, investments in renewables saved US$55 billion in global energy generation costs in 2022
TIGHTCHOKE Posted Friday at 13:44 Report Share Posted Friday at 13:44 So why is electricity so expensive in the UK?

This is undoubtedly true, however, the sun doesnt always shine, and the wind doesnt always blow in the UK..... So during a windless, winter night, where is the energy coming from ? So we have to have battery backup, on a scale pretty much impossible to produce, due to limited lithium reserves. Also at a cost that makes renewables VERY expensive. Tidal and hydro is the key, yet for some unknown reason, the UK seems reluctant to pursue this....
Yellow Bear Posted Friday at 15:23 Report Share Posted Friday at 15:23 1 hour ago, Rewulf said: Tidal and hydro is the key, yet for some unknown reason, the UK seems reluctant to pursue this IIRC this is due almost entirely to the fluffy bunny brigade conservationists loudly objecting to "loss of habitat", although for some reason wind and solar does not remove habitat. Unfortunately this is where our political system lets us all down. Only coalition govt can get us to the point where we can make strategic choices.
