Yes, I recall that, but it’s a typically idiotic dismissive comment by some campaigning empty head, as not every teacher may want to be armed, nevermind confront an armed attacker. Its not for everyone obviously, and in some situations its not going to work (armed teacher is the 1st target being one) but Im sure it could save lives in others, and provide a deterrent to others ? Plus the level of training required to be effective and not more of a hindrance. I could also imagine the cops turning up and shooting a teacher, mistakenly believing them to be the shooter. Most shootings take place in locations where the shooter knows they will face little if any opposition; they may be deranged and cowardly, but they’re not stupid. It's not something that I'd thought about too deeply , until the other day to be honest. I know several school teachers very well , and I know that just the thought of handling a firearm would fill them with dread , never mind having to use one against a child.
