Kitchen knives are to be licensed under new. government legislation ! security arrangements  will be inspected by local police forces to ensure they remain secure, hack saw blades and chisels to be reviewed over the next months  to ensure owners have a need for ownership .hot off the press ,

Yep, also all craftsmen using sharp tools will need to be licenced, tools will need to be drawn from mp's surgeries on signature and returned after use.

As in all things Parliament related - it's about VOTES.

Not safety, saving lives, preventing injuries, common sense, practicalities, making peoples lives easier - but VOTES.

There are vocal groups calling for bans on 'weapons' be they knives, firearms, and to an extent some other things that can 'be used' as weapons etc (e.g. various pepper sprays, and other 'personal protection' devices).  These groups - often including various 'known campaigners' (the same names seem to crop up in different pressure groups) are good at manipulating public opinion and tapping into the illogical responses that follow these very occasional tragic events.  The public is very easily convinced when the 'evidence' of people killed and injured is there for all to see.  What is not mentioned is that these tragic events are in fact a TINY minority of deaths and injuries compared to the overall annual total of 'premature deaths and serious injuries, and VERY often involve perpetrators who are known to the authorities and should not be 'at large'.

But, as you know we can't have personal freedoms to cause havoc curtailed, far more satisfying to create general dismay to thousands with unenforceable conditions?

I bought a cheap knife for home butchery from bushwear this week. Ordered and arrived in two days. I was out, delivery driver just handed the box of bits over to my better half and that was that..

I had a knife delivered yesterday, I wasn't in so they took it away again.

So because I wasn't there to sign for the delivery that I knew was coming but no idea what day or time they took it away again as they hadn't been able to visually verify whether I was old enough to be a mass murderer or not. This made me very cross, not cross enough to go and stab somebody cross but just fed up with the whole stupidity of the situation cross. They had my name and address and then asked for a copy of my passport so they could confirm my age, I gave them that and it was obvious I was old enough to have a knife and be a mass murderer and not an underaged knife wielding murderer. So why couldn't they leave it? Heinnie always manages to when they bring me knives.

I was still miffed about this when driving the missus to work and then on the radio they announce measures are being put in place to make it harder to buy knives online. It serves no purpose whatsoever other than the seen to be doing something criteria. How come nobody ever comments on the seen to be doing something pointless just makes you look stupid issue?

So, no new knife for me unless I want to go on a 2 hour 30 mile round trip to the "local" depot to collect my online purchase. Well at least it has kept crime off the street by preventing me from being armed and dangerous, unless of course I decided to use one of the other multiple knives in my posession, or my guns, or just ramming them with any of my vehicles or even just resorting to blunt objects and pointy sticks which served prehistoric man well enough for such purposes.

Obviously I am not about to do any of those things which highlights the glaringly obvious fact that it is not the knife, gun, claw hammer, pointy stick etc that is the problem in the first place.

I can't remember if it was here or elsewhere that I read they are not going to commemorate a very distinguished Sheffield cutler for his lifes work because it glorifies knives. I mean what the actual .... has this country come to?

I told my OH, if and when any FEO asks her to go through that potential list of things they intend to use to ascertain whether I’m a nutter likely to go on a spree or knock her about if she answers ‘yes’ to anything in that list ( cos after all, who’s going to stop me knocking her about as soon as they leave? 🙄) that when they get to the bit which asks ‘does the applicant have an unhealthy obsession with knives’ ? ( I have a drawer full of knives, plus bayonets ) then she is to answer ‘yes, but it’s not as big as his obsession with guns’ . 😉😄

I have in my kitchen draw 3 x 14inch steak knives, 5 x 7 inch boning knifes, 1 machete 6 Mora 1 custom knife plus umpteen dinner and butter knifes and NOT ONE OF THESE HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN ANYTHING BUT THERE INTENDED PURPOSE. .

Its not the knifes, its not the guns. its the people with the mindset to use them as weapons, 75% are from this tyrpe of culture.

Its stating the bloody obvious.

Yep,  we've got a whole rack of murder weapons out in the kitchen.

Officialdom never misses an opportunity to make some gains through applied difficulties wether the laws are appropriate or not. It's all about more control?

Yep and seen to be doing something.  Even though it is completely irrelevant.

I know i need to stop this interest in the worst ever government i have ever known, even that woman who lasted just a few weeks was better than this twerp.

Don't forget her sidekick .. kami quasi.  You know,  the bloke who enjoyed a big crash.!  Even if there was only blunt ,,, no point knives,  how long would it take rub it up and down a brick wall to grind a point.?  when I was at school,  there was an enterprising lad who used to put 6 inch nails on the railway lines at the level crossing.  This made rough knife blades which he hand finnished and sold to other lads.  It only needs a few grey cells.  And if lads were going to be stop searched , would they be charged with having a pair of football socks in their rucksack bag.?  What about a bit of plastic waste pipe about 10 inches long.  ??? I won't explain the last part required.  part of a very dangerous lethal weapon made out of totally innocent things. The variations are only restricted by the mind.

Meanwhile just as I was leaving the house , there appeared on the news of yet another stabbing in Birmingham. 15 year old. Kids eh! Little rascals.

A 12 year old knee high to a Grasshopper.  They have identified the victim but not the 14 year old attacker who also assaulted an 80 odd year old woman, Southport MK 2!

On this occasion the delivery driver doesn't know who else lives at your address, so he's no doubt following company procedures,  it's inconvenient but that's all.

Was in Asda last year actually buying a new set of kitchen knives and noticed that one pack had been opened and a large carving knife was missing. Called a member of staff over and as he removed the box he told us that this was an almost daily occurrence!!! Surely a camera would be a wise move or at least check the dozens of cameras already in the store but ,as usual, nobody cares.
