jonno 357
Red Sea for me too. try Dahab just north of Sharm. Dived the Blue Hole and stayed at the Hilton. Fished a lure off the beach catching Barracuda.Or take a boat off the beach to troll for reef fish. get them cooked at the Penguin cafe on the Beach. One week was ?400. Laid back resort. Guaranteed good weather. Quite fancy a spot of diving in the red sea, what's the blue hole? Supposed to be going to Cairo for a long weekend to see pyramids and was going to avoid going to the red sea bit but now think might go to red sea and do a day trip to Pyramids. Anyone know if September is good month to go? Dunno about September its 35c in May Jonno
AVB
Mauritius. Great weather (27c in April), fantastic hotels, great big-game fishing, good diving, nice people, no chavs. Can be expensive though. Wouldn't bother with Egypt. The pits. Especially the Pyramids. Blue Hole is a crater just off the beach with a tunnel at about 70 metres out to the open sea.famous dive but needs to be done with a good guide. cairo is great but only for a flying visit. Massive sprawling congested place. Museum and Giza the only things worth seeing and that takes a morning to do.Diving at Dahab loads quieter than Sharm these days and no big boat trips to the dive sites. mostly beach dives. Fat Dog
lol, pin.i would recomend egypt, particularly sharm el sheik, beautiful place. and deffo go for all inclusive. can sit for endless hours at the pool bar, and not remember it in the morning, great right on the red sea, so beautiful diving and sunbathing to be had. also we went quad biking in the desert for 3 or so hours, great fun and well worth the money. cheers flash Her indoors has advised me (sorry told me) that we are going to Sharm el Sheik in July. No doubt there will be a thousand flys waiting for me at the airport.

fortune
lol, pin.i would recomend egypt, particularly sharm el sheik, beautiful place. and deffo go for all inclusive. can sit for endless hours at the pool bar, and not remember it in the morning, great right on the red sea, so beautiful diving and sunbathing to be had. also we went quad biking in the desert for 3 or so hours, great fun and well worth the money. cheers flash Her indoors has advised me (sorry told me) that we are going to Sharm el Sheik in July. No doubt there will be a thousand flys waiting for me at the airport. The Wife and I flew to Sharm this last April where we boarded a cruise liner that took us overnight up the Gulf of Aqaba to Aqaba in Jordan. Aqaba is a dump. The next day we went to Petra. This was very interesting and well worth the trip. We then cruised around the Sinai to Egypt for the trip to Cairo for the Pyramids/ Sphinx and the Egyptian museum. Cairo is also a dump. The pyramids and the Sphinx were impressive but the stay wasn’t long enough and again everyone is trying to get money off of you. Even the tourist police want paying to take your photo and try to steal your camera. The museum and the king Tut artifacts were brilliant. Amused to see the police lying out asleep on some of the exhibits in the display halls. We then cruised down the Gulf of Suez to Hurghada and then across the desert to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. This was a 14-hour day trip in a convoy of 100 coaches with escorts of pick-ups loaded with fully armed troops. Here we went down some of the tombs of the pharaohs. The Temple of Luxor was very impressive. From here we cruised back up to Sharm and spent a week at the Iberotel Palace Hotel. The hotel was very, very nice but Sharm is also a dump. I found that there wasn’t much to do and everywhere you go you get harassed. I am used to the looky looky men but the Arabs are like flies, and holidaymakers are the honey. Fascinating trip to amazing landscapes and antique sites but it’s a shame because of the people. (Not all of them). Had to do it but probably wouldn’t go back. It was a visiting program rather than a holiday but it depends on what you want from you holiday. Tell er indoors that she’d better be prepared to get pestered big time. What you see in the hol books and on sky travel ain't quite what it's like when your there. there's loads better places to go. Ps if anyone what’s specific info or pics contact me and I’ll send some target data. Edited January 17, 2008 by fortune
