Si-Bore
I am interested in which semi auto SG people prefer. If you have already looked at it on BBS - ignore this. Feel free to state your reasons for choice too. Thanks Si

mossy835
my next gun is a benelli, black eagle 2,
Baldrick
Having owned Browning, Mossberg, Beretta and Remington S/As, I firmly believe that I made the right choice buying a Benelli M2. It is a very simple, lightweight gun, yet doesn't punish me with excessive recoil even with really heavy loads. My M2 is a 9+1 shot used for vermin control, and I absolutely love it. It's definitely for keeps.

Gordon R
Shot all of the list, except Hatsan and Webley. Owned a whole lot more, but Remingtons were the best handling - absolutely no doubt.
harpo_the_bad
Hatsan Escort - They're practically giving the things away! AND they do everything I'd expect from a much more expensive gun. Since breaking mine in it has been perfect. And contrary to what some people say, the 3.5" magnum WILL cycle with normal loads... as low as 32g anyway. I don't use anything lower. henry d
Remi 11-87 which is the brother of the 1100 for me as I have one, one gas seal and a lot of abuse and it cycles everything beautifully.
njc110381
I had to go for the Beretta. I had a Xtrema and it was amazing how low a load it would cycle. Compared to my mates 3.5" Escort it was in a league of its own. The Escort would be fussy on any load under 32g, whereas the Xtrema had cycled 24g clay loads for me without a grumble several times! I sold the Xtrema because it was too long for me, not because it was a bad gun. The other Berettas are pretty much the same, just with a smaller chamber. You very rarely see one jam. Blackbart
The one in my cabinet is a "browning gold hunter"with a 32 yes 32 inch barrel, hence it mainly gets used for geese or fox drives as its a bit like waving a broom handle around

reedbradshaw
Hatsan cos weve been trying to kill one between six of us and it just keeps going, best 250 quid ever spent 3 inch magnums 46gram italian trap stuff everything thousands of 28 gram cleaned twice and replaced an 80 pence rubber ring. ive heard mixed reveiws about this, most people who have them say they are faultless as above. But ive heard one guy slate these saying they are totally unreliable and ive got to stear clear of the gun! any one had any problems with these ? Ice
Its not the load of the cartridge, i.e. 32g, 28g, 24g, its the length of the cartridge that is the problem stick to 2-3/4 and above and it will never miss a beat.... For the value you cant beat the Hatsan Escort, a friend of mine has just bought on and im seriously thinging about getting one just for the fun side of it, its faultless..... deffinatly reccommend getting your hands on one
reedbradshaw
another good reveiw, some one i know says his has been at the dealers more times than anything due to faults. could this be due to the guy not using correct shells, hes been in shooting for about 30yrs so i doubt something so stupid could be the cause. How about Franchi ? are they good autos ? ive been offered one cheap and seriously considering it !

vole
I had a Franchi AL 48 and liked it. Very light. Long recoil operated. Alminium reciever tho,bit shiny. Now owned by Beretta? Plenty around cheap. Traded mine for the Escort in cammo tho as wanted to use heavier loads some time.
