soreshoulder
i think this law is a little outdated and is there really any need for it? i for one would have more time on a sunday to do some rough shooting does it just still remain from the older game shooting culture? reedbradshaw
i like the tradition....something the UK is losing a lot of very rapidly. I say keep it
libs
Even the game deserve a day off.
duncan
i think there is an old bylaw in bedfordshire no shooting of game on sundays, i think it should stay
Fishleigh
Tradition.. i think keep it the way its always been, it just wouldnt seem right shooting game on a sunday
Ferret Master
Give the game a day off I say. What does need addressing however is the wildfowl restrictions on Sundays in certain counties but not in others. Just confusing. FM
Yellow Bear
Fireproof suit on - why Sunday - why not Monday or Wednesday ? Granted a day off is good but for most of us there is only 1 day on at the moment ---Saturday. D

anser2
Once you start tinkering about with shooting seasons and days you never know what you are going to end up with once the law makers start looking at it. There is already pressure to start the game shooting a month later and continue into March. Ok for those who shoot driven game , but for some of who shoot marshland areas we have to take the birds by the middle of November or they have all left the shoot and gone onto the dry uplands. As for pheasant shooting into March .... well a lot of us can say goodby to some of the best pigeon shooting if that happens . WE have a good system of shooting seasons , longer than a lot of countries , any attempt to change things will open up a can of worms that may let the anties influence the outcomes. CharlieT
No need for change.........leave things as they are.
malkiserow
you might just find that it was Sunday because folks were supposed to be honouring the holy day. However things look like they are changing on this particular font so watch-this-space. I am all for it not changing.

labrador
No need for change.........leave things as they are. i agree with charlie t there is enough confusion already, nobody would know where they stood if they were changed again
scifiden
I say change. Its 2009 for gods sake not 1809. No such thing as a day off anymore
Ozzy Fudd
i voted change it, for the simple i reason i hate the whole "dont do anything on a sunday or you will be struck down by a thunderbolt from heaven" attitude that probly started it/ having said that they do deserve a day off. what about mondays? no one likes mondays... al4x
keep it the same, otherwise keepers would have to work all day sundays. The current system works well, and it is game we're talking about not vermin so you don't have to control them it is purely done for sport. I'd guess it's just Northern Ireland, but that maybe it's tradition, not law. It's not that long ago there were plenty of people in NI who wouldn't even shoot targets on Sunday. bigstevouk
Maybe with people working a 6 day week it should be changed as they never get a chance to shoot.......
Guest topshot_2k
Maybe with people working a 6 day week it should be changed as they never get a chance to shoot....... book a day off then, keepers need a day off and the no game on sunday rule should be left alone. You can still shoot pests etc
