I know we shouldn't resort to national stereotyping but the Germans really and truly like their stereotype. They have a huge sense of civic awareness and responsibility. I can give you an example, when it snows EVERYBODY comes out and clears the roads and the pavements. Nobody tells them to, they just do it. My grandfather's family came from Germany before the first world war. They settled in Gateshead, I still have a cousin in Dusseldorf that I know about and maybe others that I don't. In many ways they are very single minded, they are focused in a way that other nations are not and that is both their strength and their weakness.

German people do as they are told, when they are told by their government to do something they only have to be told once. They can appear a bit moronic at times but when something like this happens they really come into their own. They don't have the level of interchange that we do between New York or China generally speaking.

Well, Australia and New Zealand are right at the back end of nowhere for a start with strict immigration policies. That has saved them to a great extent

No, if you read the whole article, what it is saying is that hundreds of thousands of people were allowed in from Spain, Italy, New York, China and Middle East even when the infection was climbing exponentially in those countries and we were behind them. No attempt was made to stop it even after concerns were being raised.. Counting backwards now, knowing more about the percentage of people that were infected in those countries somebody has worked out that of those hundreds of thousands of people allowed in 20,000 would probably have been infected The thing is, the flights are still coming in today, a lot fewer people admittedly, but they are still just walking out of the airport unhindered.

There is an actor, can't remember his name but he used to be in Coronation St who said he is absolutely sure he had it in September too while appearing in York. He said the symptoms were severe but classic covid he now realises. You do have to wonder, will it ever get followed up?

I don't think there was anything sinister in their motives but if you are told not to do something you don't do it. Its not complicated really, some people seem to just not get it

Every case now has been infected since the lockdown (more or less). People still don't get the surfaces/hand transmission aspects. They think wearing a mask or standing two metres apart is enough but they don't isolate their shopping or post and touch their phones and car keys etc

Clearly the fish and chip shop was the excuse they gave when stopped but nobody drives that far for a chippy.

what have we been saying all along? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/05/05/least-20000-people-infected-coronavirus-arrived-uk-lockdown/

I'm not so sure about that, I now know or know of seven people who have died and only one had an underlying heath condition. What about all the NHS staff that have died, the bus drivers, etc?

Things like the steel plate events where you compete against the clock. Person who hits ten different steel plates in fastest time wins. It has a lot of advantages for getting a lot of people competing in a simple fun event. Its carried out on a 25yd range, each competitor only takes a few minutes to shoot so you get a fast turn around of people. . It only uses about £2 worth of ammo, entry level rifles only cost £200, its quiet compared to clays or fullbore. Its visual, spectators and the competitor hear and see the hits and the score is known ; It gets people into shooting, novices can compete along side experienced shooters.

Its not so likely that Italy and Spain leave as it is that they will crash financially and have to be cut loose or bankrupt the Euro, Either way the EU is on very thin ice. Lets just look at Italy, no tourism now, no car industry now and they couldn't pay their way when they had both in plenty

Diesel is still much better for the environment than petrol, except in city centres

This is already in a thread that I started (Another snout in the trough) perhaps the mods could merge them? Sir David King is a big supporter of Extinction Rebellion and their direct action policy He was chief scientific advisor to Tony Blair and Gordon Brown

Clearly a genetic fault in the Corbyn family when it comes to their grasp on reality

Powder coating bullets.
Vince Green replied to nagantino's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
the idea of copper washed bullets and powder coated bullets is broadly the same. It provides a barrier between the lead bullet and the barrel to prevent leading. Neither is a lubricant, but simply a barrier layer. Some people still experienced leading with copper washed bullets because the rifling cut through the microscopically thin layer of copper exposing the lead below. It all depends on the depth and profile of your rifling. I can see the same problem happening with powder coated bullets. Years ago back in the pistol days there was a company called silverlube that coated their bullets with a Teflon coating very similar to powder coating. Some people swore by them others couldn't get on with them at all. I soon found out that copper washed bullets were no substitute for FMJ when loading for full .357 magnum velocities to shoot at 100yds. After a few shots the bullets were going sideways. I would expect powder coated bullets would be the same. -
FAC info .22 target shooting please
Vince Green replied to BADGER.BRAD's topic in General Shooting Matters
In simple terms no, there are some archaic exemptions which can still be applied but your chances today would be virtually zero -
Seems about right, CCIs were about £70 per 1000 last lot I bought

Step one find a club that you like -
You are right, people getting ill or dying now have been infected since the lockdown and the media should be doing a lot more to find out why. People are observing the distancing pretty well, wearing masks a lot of the time but still catching it. What I do see is people not really understanding the way hands can transmit the virus. Making simple errors like the woman I saw on Thursday walking out of Tesco, no gloves, pushing a trolley load of shopping while talking on her phone. She will probably get home and put all that shopping straight away without washing it or isolating it https://inews.co.uk/news/health/coronavirus-latest-contaminated-surfaces-covid-19-droplets-air-explained-sage-2680179?itm_source=parsely-api

The trouble with rolling news 24/7 is that the media is constantly looking for new stories, new angles or new so called "experts" to interview. Then the pressure is to say something different to what was said an hour ago, and two hours ago, and three hours ago etc.

Selling/buying guns at the moment
Vince Green replied to Lucasnorth's topic in General Shooting Matters
I think its more of a financial issue to be honest. When money is tight the first things you're going to want to sell / last things you are going to buy are the luxury items. Nothing to do with lockdown -
I couldn't pronounce five of the current squad even if I knew their names. That's British football today

So you have heard the rumour too!
