With the greatest of respect there are very few malfunctions that could cause this and I would imagine the offending fault would be quite obvious, with the barrel being fixed and there being no way to alter the length of the cocking lever then the fault must lie in the moderator/barrel catch assembly or whatever AA call the lump at the end of the barrel - not sure how this is attached but is there any chance he has been tinkering with the gun?

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the piston/seal should slide slowly down the cylinder under it's own weight? As for corkscrewing - I cannot think of anything that would cause this other than a poorly made/fitting pellet.

Just to clarify....after the gun has been fired, the lever sits firmly into the end housing but when you cock and close the gun/lever, it falls about a cm short??

When you consider that lead expands at nearly half the rate that Mercury does, you gotta realise that measuring or moaning about tiny variations in pellet sizes is akin to peeing into the wind - it's going to come back and embarrass you. Any tiny variations will be sorted when hit by 2-3000 psi of air.

Air Arms Ultimate Sporter pcp .177

That's not a sale - that's robbery at that price. -
The death penalty will never be used again because of the costs involved - far cheaper to keep a man behind bars than kill him and pay the legal powers that be hundreds of thousands of pounds nit picking every tiny piece of the case against the defendant. Prisons are kept comfortable to help keep prisoners happy and content - prison officers no longer have the power to punish offenders for bad behaviour or the resources to battle constant riots.

This clip should be permanently posted in the vermin shooting section.

As already mentioned the S410/510 Superlite's take some beating and would be a better bet than a dedicated left hooker as it's easier to sell on when the time comes - I use both the S410 classic (.177) and .22 Carbine for all my pest control needs and have never once had the slightest problem with them - I bought dedicated left handers but then I cannot see myself ever selling them.

As said the 525 is made in Japan but don't let that put you off - you will struggle to ever put any appreciable wear on it, but far more important is that you try both guns before you decide, it may be a strange phenomenon but some people who shoot Browning's simply cannot get on with it's Italian competitor and the same applies the other way round - in short you may prefer the 525's build quality and reputation but shoot far better with the Beretta.

£3.00 to fill my 3ltr 300 bar tank, average 4 fills a year, Tank cost £65 from a local dive shop (used) and whip/gauge £30 used so over the 5 years my tank has cost me on average £25 / year for a plentiful supply of clean dry Air - cheap as chips .

The dealer does not set the power level, that's down to the manufacturer, however, the dealer would be wise to check the power level before handing you your new gun. Long term you can pick up a chrono for about £40.

"Thick set, tattooed angry looking type" are you referring to my wife?

Not a great fan of our boys in blue but I think they were superb, if not a touch lucky, in this instance.

Sure that I read somewhere that the plate actually said TELLY but the T was made in a rather Latin- esque way and thus wore a curly tail - it does indeed look like a J and the name Jelly did stick though.

Warriors from the pinnacle of the British Empire, When manners and Humility were everyday Attire; When hearts and souls took their place in the line to defend our freedom; Now fading as a memory yet Immortalised by their Deeds we may never see their like again. God Bless and give us the grace to remember them.

It's always going to be a bit of a trade off, a lighter, thus higher speed pellet is going to give you better accuracy in principle due to the flatter trajectory at Airgun ranges but then the lack of weight and thus energy carrying ability at longer ranges becomes a disadvantage if you are trying to spoil a Squirrels day. Heavyweight pellets obviously carry/retain more energy over range but the loopy trajectory means that accurate range finding becomes a real necessity. At the risk of repeating myself I have shot several Squirrels clean thru the head with a variety of .177 pellets and found the poor creatures very much conscious and reactive on approach, the Extreme Hunter pellets that I now exclusively use on these pests seem to have made a considerable difference but it's still early days and I believe that this type of pellet, at normal UK power levels, restrict your shooting to Head shots only. Ultimately you need to consider the fact that a Nuclear reactive, Rocket powered pellet is about as much use as a Chocolate Teapot if it cannot hit the target so you may have to compromise your choice of pellet and simply go with whatever your barrel takes a liking to, regardless of the weight/design.

I would send them hate mail at the very least....How dare they put chairs and Parasols outside so that people can sit and enjoy the fresh air, How selfish of them not to imagine that somebody might stub their toes or worse.

In 1943 there were not 3500 known Nazi sympathisers roaming the streets of Britain, our borders were not open to allow more potential enemies into our Country and cause the deaths of innocent random people, it seems that 70 odd years of tolerance and integration was not the Halcyon that our Politicians have led us to believe.

Hamster....finally somebody agrees with me regarding the Original 45 - cracking gun way ahead of any other springer at the time and the majority since.

Best out there IMHO - for more giggles try the HV HP

Simples....both my current S410's came at a bargain price whilst the S510 seems to hold it's value but the ultimate sporter is a Gun that I would like to own and if one comes up at a good price then I will grab it, also keen to find a Pro Sport for less than a kings ransom. I suppose, in reality, that I could go out and buy a new US but , despite being financially "comfortable" I love a bargain and have never had any qualms about buying used Airguns.

By cut and de proofed do you mean it's been deactivated and stamped as such?

Not going to knock the Compatto simply because I have not tried one but they are Daystate's love child which would put me right off. I shoot/hunt more than is good for me (according to her indoors) and I need a rifle that can be relied on no matter what, my results are important because my Landowners are not interested in anything but dead vermin. I have used Air Arms rifles since my SM100 many years ago and via the TX200 and the S200 I have finally settled on the S410 classic in .177 about 5 years ago for all my "work", I have recently added the S410 .22 Carbine with a stunning Walnut stock to my armoury and I will most likely stay true to these 2 guns till my final breath is drawn. IMHO until a major step forward in Airgun design occurs I believe that nothing on the market can out perform these guns to any kind of level that matters in the real world.

The "urine sample tube" is what I use to hold one charge of Black Powder for my Muzzle Loader
