Get yourself a second hand 2-4 gun cabinet-there is quite often some for sale on this forum but ensure that it is "approved" by the police.Apply for your certificate once you have fitted the cabinet properly (local feo can advise)and dont forget to sort a referee who will vouch for you-you will also need 3 passport size photo's.While you are sorting the above you should visit your nearest clay ground as often as possible and join up if you can.Certificates last for 5 years and you can buy as many guns as you can store securely on your cert.Buying your first gun does'nt have to be expensive-you dont need a Perrazi to start with-a bog standard o/u 12 gauge choked 1/4 and 3/4 single trigger non-ejector can be picked up for around £100 and will out perform you for quite a while.Finding land to shoot vermin on is a different kettle of bananas and advice could run to several pages.Get to know as many shooters as you can and try to get invited out with an experienced gun-this is fast track learning.Once you have some basic skills you have something to offer landowners and should start to ask locally using friends as a go between or means of introduction. If you ask in the "shooting wanted" section and include your area and how far you can travel you may find someone on here willing to help-best of luck-Bruno.

Get yourself a can-tie a length of string to it and place it on the ground near the bottom of a tree-stand behind the tree.Get a mate to stand 50 yards away and shoot at the can-your job is to listen for the shot then pull the can away before the pellet hits it-good luck.

Really hate to say it but,as a reasonably open forum and in the full knowledge of the amount of sicko's out there,I would think twice about posting pictures of my kids. Please be careful guys.

As per the Olympics-who gives one?

I dont know about anyone else but your choice of words alone(pigeon "banging" and "Tally-Ho")would prevent me even answering your post if I were in the Cheltenam area and willing to share my permission-just an observation.

Google "the gat air pistol history" then read the thread under "trevs airgun scrapbook"-should clear things up-the design was never changed significantly to the best of my knowledge.
-
The GAT has a seal at the rear of the sliding barrel-the main body is the cylinder and as the barrel assembly flies forwards it compresses air inside-this is transferred to the back of the projectile by 2 small holes inside the breach-the elongated loading probe is the length that it is to allow for this-strip one down and see-or look up its history.
-
Buy a new cot and simply switch the mattress over-the new owner will probably never know-simples.
-
The GAT is indeed an air pistol-it has a seal and a piston,as such, that uses compressed air to propel the desired projectile.
-
Be careful-just driven to Milton Keynes and my Shogun went sideways three times-last one on compressed snow and lost complete control of car.
-
Think VERY carefully before buying anything second hand that did not come from the land of the sauerkraut.

Have to agree with previous posts with regards the models-I would rather look at a horse in a T shirt.I dont think he will compete with the likes of "Horse Attack" who have a huge range to suit all budgets and are spread across the country-I dont know who trains their staff but he/she should be knighted!Your mates designs are also boring-can anyone on this forum ,who looked on the site within the last 5 minutes, remember any of the designs?

Cheapest on Guntrader is just shy of £600.Mine has been up for sale for nearly a month for £450 and its the much rarer carbine version. They may be old hat but they dont rust(stainless steel) and are still one of the top 5 guns ever made. Not had a single offer on mine

Used to work in a breakers yard-theres nothing wrong with part worns if you are careful-tyres used to have a date on them so (assuming they still do) check that out first. We used to get a lot of tyres from failed mot cars-people change their tyres before going for a ticket only to find that the car needs a load more work that makes keeping the car a false economy. We also had tyres that had come off new cars-some people are brand loyal and have their favorite tyres fitted before collecting their new car.

Hardly seen enough pigeons to argue with each other round here all year then last week about 2 thousand have been devouring a couple of rape fields-typically the owner is a horsey type and doesn't allow any shooting.

If,as someone has already said, there is a TX200 for sale at under £200 then dont tart about-get it and you wont regret it.
-
Yep-you got me there Richard-that standard of workmanship belongs in the past-I could have done better with a Die Nut.If I was offered a gun like that I would refuse to even consider it-shame on you Air Arms.

Lapping a barrel is a rare necessity these days and it is foolish to assume that doing so will automatically increase the guns accuracy,it is also the domain of a highly skilled individual. We are talking about guns here that shoot over 40-50 yards and not a couple of kilometers so how much benefit is likely to be gained?-more likely to do more harm than good. Most barrel makers these days are very proficient(with the exception of the cheaper chinese makers who struggle to maintain consistent land depth)so time taken on your tube, unless it is obviously damaged, would probably be more worthwhile spent in other areas.
-
In a springer you are lapping the piston to the cylinder bore and burning off any excess lubricant left over during manufacture-this can take anything from one to lord knows how many tins depending on quality of machining e.t.c.-the better quality guns tend to need little running in these days because of the advances in engineering practice (modern cars take less time to run in than 20 years ago).As for cleaning the bore I,personally, would not touch it with anything other than an occasional pull thru-any lead left in the bore is removed by the following shot unless a defect is present and "pitting" has left tiny pieces of lead to fill "holes"in the bore-this process of "leading" the barrel is desirable as it aids accuracy-poking a stiff brush down the tube could remove the lead and thus reduce the performance of your barrel.A pcp takes little running in as there is little in the way of metal to metal contact-more than one tin would be unusual.BTW catweazle-who cut the thread on that barrel cos its terrible-should have used a CNC.
-
I dont see the point-if your left eye calls the shots then just shoot from your left shoulder rather than wreck your sight picture-otherwise you are relying on perfect gun fit and extremely consistent mounting-which few of us can afford or guarantee.

Hi Richard-which AA gun is comparable to the huntsman? Are we talking looks? Accuracy? Quality? In my opinion, and judging by which brand sells best, even the basic S200 is more than a match-try one-they are ambi so you should get on o.k.-I will agree that they may be considered ugly but then,in my opinion, not many hunters want to sleep with their guns-the 200 is built,as most AA guns are,to do a job. In all walks of life you will find collectors of anything from cars to lolly pop sticks-the rarer an item is the more desirable it becomes-this does not mean that it is better than any more easily available similar item-in fact it could be the opposite because if the object was exceptional at performing its designated purpose then it would have sold so many units that it would loose its exclusivity and thus its attraction for collectors. I am left handed ,by the way,and share your frustration but you may be overlooking one minor prob if you go for a lefty rather than an ambi-its harder to sell on.I have nothing against Daystate and I am glad to see that any british company is thriving but I have watched AA grow from their early days as the Sussex Armoury till today and I have great respect for the advances they have made in modern Airgun design.I am waiting for a S410 in left hand to come up as we speak and have offered up my Logun mk2 as a swap/px-to date I have been offered 2 Daystates but no 410's in any orientation. Difference of opinion is all part of this great sport in which we partake-for my part it is all tongue in cheek and is never meant to offend or belittle-we have such a difference and that you have taken time and given thought to such an extent that you have a strong view is a credit to you.

With 12 foxes visiting his garden in one night-is "Dave" a pest controller that you would recommend?

True story-happened a few weeks back at the school where I work.I had a report that a car had been parked with the lights still on so I located the vehicle and was writing the reg number down when a Teacher walked over after noticing what I was doing. She informed me that she knew who's car it was so I asked her if she would locate the owner and let her know that her lights were still on."Not a problem" she assures me "But I dont know if she's in yet or not".................

I suppose that you could also say that if you want something pretty to look at and money is no object then the Daystate is for you-but if you are on a limited budget and want value the AA is the way to go.When you are talking about guns that are only effective to ,say,45 yards how much better can the Daystate really be?-what can it do that the AA s410 cant-it cant kill the same rabbit twice or even kill it more dead.As for customer service all I can say is that I have never found them anything but professional-I guess that they dont need to work to sell one gun so why waste their time-the range of guns are available for all to see online. On top of this are the ambi guns or second hand if you really want one.
