  1. A little bit of forethought might convince you that hindsight is a wonderful thing. The less regrets you have on your deathbed, the better it'll be for you and your family. Sometimes we just don't try hard enough to understand each other.
  2. Not everything that gets copied and pasted from google is a fact. Mostly it's somebodys opinion that has been portrayed as fact in order to fool those who can't think for themselves into believing it.
  3. Making assumptions based on media reports doesn't detract from the fact that our licencing arrangements have undoubtedly prevented airgun related incidents. There will always be those who can and will get hold of airguns and firearms illegally, but there are also those who would have an airgun if it was as simple as walking into a shop and buying one. Petty criminals etc that have very little control over their emotions and who just aren't right in the head.
  4. We've needed to have airguns on an FAC here for years. It serves to keep them out of the hands of the unscrupulous characters in our society. For those who have a genuine interest or need for an airgun, they will still be accessible. It's another hoop to jump through, but as a shooter if you don't jump through that hoop, you're just lying down and admitting defeat.
  5. Shockingly terrible. Doubt I'll continue to watch it. Leblanc and evans didn't have any flow between them, and their attempts at humour just failed.
  6. You're assuming it's the DPF that's at fault. It could be any of a multitude of sensors associated with the DPF or the engine that's causing the problem. What was the fault code when you connected the diagnostic machine? Is the engine management light on?
  7. Got tested for it about 6 years ago and was told I was unsuitable. Something about the risk of blinding being quite high due to the astigmatism and shape of my eyes.
  8. To be honest it appears that the vast majority of your posts (about 80% or more) contain extracts taken from the first page of the google search screen. That's a statistic that cannot be disputed.
  9. Having an armed police force in this part of the great green island of Ireland has proven to be dangerous itself on more than one occasion in the past few years. Police officers leaving their guns in public toilets in Sainsburys, discharging firearms on garage forecourts using fmj rounds etc. As civvies are we not entitled to protect ourselves the same as a police officer? Do our lives matter less? You could argue that police officers encounter more situations whereby a firearm would be a great deterrent or a life saver, but what about that one time where you have an 18 stone steroid stuffed headcase coming at you as a civilian? Or some drugged up junkie with a knife?
  10. I have shot alongside countless serving police officers, and rest assured just because they have been armed for 50 years doesn't mean they are good with a gun. It genuinely frightens me to think these people carry firearms on and off duty. They do very little training with their firearms each year. Certainly nowhere near the amount required to reach a comfortable level of proficiency with a firearm. Even the top secret army units used machine guns to make sure they could hit their intended targets whilst driving past at 20mph. Pistols just didn't cut it for drive by's. If the police programmes on tv are anything to go by, the uk police would have to up their game quite considerably before the general public would even consider getting comfortable with the thought of an armed police force.
  11. There may be some merit in what the dealer has said. Over here we have to have moderators paired with rifles and air rifles. We cannot simply chop and change them as we see fit. The wording on our licences states that a moderator, serial number NONE, can only be used with such and such a rifle. Given the fact that there are no serial numbers used for them over here yet (perhaps they are used for CF mods), there's no reason as to why you cannot have 3 rifles and one moderator. Providing the moderator isn't expressly linked to one of those rifles via serial number or another means. You would of course need all 3 rifles to have written permission stating that a mod could be used on them.
  12. Therefore no reason to bring the North of Ireland into the debate.

I wouldn't call it cleverly baited. The irony was obvious

At 103 years of age, you expect some incoherent rambling
  15. Fair enough, but I'm not too sure if the handgun ban has made former pistol shooters extremely biased towards this sort of thing. I can't have it so why should he etc. I'm not defending the guy as he really should have known better.
  16. Devils advocate. Had he been an American and an ex member of US Special Forces, he would have received a handshake and been sent on his way. Amazing the differences in laws between countries, where a crime punishable by imprisonment in one country is just the normal way of life in another.

At that time of the year I'd be bringing a gas mask. The water smells dreadful in the heat. Plenty of decent shops and restaurants about. If you're interested in the history of the place, you could easily fill a week with things to do and see. Tea and coffee costs a fortune near the big attractions such as St. Marks square or the Rialto bridge. The back alley shops and restaurants offer better value. I stayed on mainland Italy, but travelled to and from Venice via taxi boat.

The reason people express their opinion is because they think it's a good deal, and it's unfortunate that their current circumstances prevent them from taking advantage of the deal. Their opinions may persuade somebody who is in a position to buy the vehicle to make the purchase. If only I didn't live across the water, otherwise I'd be all over it like a rash.
  19. Seems a bit strange. They normally only crumple in an accident. I'd check the security of your steering rack to make sure it's properly secured. £994 for a steering column is a bit much. Hopefully the new one works out for you.
  20. What's wrong with the old column that it can't be fixed?
  21. I use Silverline and Bergen tools to make things out of, like metalwork figures with spanners for arms etc. I don't tend to use them for real jobs. A 17mm spanner might measure 17.5mm across the jaws, and the jaws of the open ends spread far too easily.
  22. What about the courses public liability insurance? Does this not cover those who are supposed to be on the course at the time?
  23. Stacking up on one side of the door prevents crossfire. They were expecting a fight, and didn't know what weapons the guy had on him. They left him with what appeared to be a clear exit, presumably to enable them to take a clear shot if needed
  24. I witnessed a pigeon having what I assume was a heart attack in a warehouse some years ago. One of the workers threw some wrapping tape at it and missed by a few feet. Seconds later the pigeon fell into a shopping trolley below. It was stone dead before it hit the trolley.
  25. It seems that the cause of the fault depends on whether the car is fitted with ABS or not. If it's fitted with ABS then the ABS module may be the cause of the issue. No ABS means that the engine ECU is likely to be the cause. There are reports that the gearbox mounted vehicle speed sensors become faulty, or the reluctor rings on the drive shafts. Both are cheap and easy fixes. Did you get a copy of the fault codes from the diagnostic check? All hope is not lost if it is the ECU. There are specialist companies based in the uk that do nothing but repair ECU's and electronic modules. The cost of repair varies, but I wouldn't expect to pay any more than £200.
