Speak for yourself, I paid them properly. They have all gone home again now, which is where they actually want to be. The only come here so they can earn a living wage. They all tell me they simply can not live on the money at home. The same lads have been here 3 years running, that is how awful an employer I am. They also all paid tax and national insurance. The fact that they now have a NI number means they can work anywhere they like in this country all above board. They didn't need to come back to me if they didn't want to. I don't want the country flooded with them either. In an ideal world the natives would do the work, there wouldn't be benefit levels that seem to encourage people not to work and there would be no criminals of any nationality.

I employ Romanians, simply because the natives just won't do the work. The ones I have met are intelligent, honest and hard working. Generally I would say I trust them a lot more than most of the natives that do turn up. If you can find a decent job in Romania you can expect to earn around £200/month if you are lucky, things in the shops cost pretty much the same as here. If they are able to come I really don't blame them. If anything I blame the workshy wastrels we have bred ourselves. If they would get out of bed and not just stand watching with their hands in their pockets there wouldn't be any jobs for the others to come to. Yes, they are entitled to child benefit for their kids back home. I don't agree with that bit but it is true.

With this talk of having your written permission with you it got me wondering. If I were to be stopped by the police while out shooting, I would just say it was my land so I don't have written permission. Then what? They can't find my place when I ring up and ask them to attend (burglars, trespassers etc.) how the Hell are they ever going to call the land owner (me) when they haven't a clue where they are half the time never mind whose field it is. Not meant at a dig at the police in general but I have had some pretty poor service off them at times. You could turn that around, if they caught someone shooting on my land with/without permission, how are they going to get hold of me to ask? They may find my landline number by some miracle but I am rarely there to answer it and often don't bother when I am at home (only ever double glazing salesmen or police mithering about shooters )

Thanks folks, much appreciated. It was the lady from the office that called me today, she said it will have to go back to the FEO because he had missed it off his notes. Maybe I will be better at explaining my reasons when he gets in touch. Seemed a bit strange he never mentioned it when he visited and a bit odd they questioned it when I have had 2 for years.

Currently in the process of renewing my FAC (held for 20+ years) Have had 2 .22 rifles for probably 15 of those years. One BRNO No.2, the other was a semi with mod. Handed in the semi and did 1 for 1 to get a small lever action for in the truck when driving around my fields. Turned out to be not as accurate as I wanted so sold it a month or two back. Should have done a one for one at the time I guess but left it until now to ask for a replacement. Now they are questioning why I require one. I am a bit rubbish at explaining myself at times so how do I best word it that my BRNO is a daytime stalking gun used around the farm and I "require" a shorter, moderated rifle for both lamping from my truck and night shooting? Or do you think I have to make do with the one? I am a farmer and have plenty of land, I have serious rabbit problems, lamping at night (in areas where neighbours moan if you pass wind too loudly) is one of the best control methods I use.

Nothing wrong with a metal frame and using wood or stainless for the bits that come into contact with the juice. That is what mine is (I press 40 tons a year ish)

Without reading the whole thread again, I don't think he even complained. Just asked why. Non of my comments were serious (for those that thought otherwise) I made a mistake and broke my own rule on this forum never to read anything after the second page. If you boycott them, won't they just stop selling them due to no demand? With the way Blunderbuss is so obviously on such a short fuse I would think his next rant at the counter staff would become quite violent. Some people shouldn't be allowed guns!

A wasted journey if they come here. There are no acorns or any other nuts on the trees. I would think birds in general will have a tough time this winter. On the other hand they may thrive on all the uncut grain I see around.

I find the 3 onions in a diddy orange onion sack are usually OK. Not very often they are not up to standard no matter which supermarket they come from. Loose, if you know what you are looking at you can leave the bad ones in the shop (for the OP I guess )

Another vote for Humax, and I have tried others. Just so much easier to set up and use. Even puts all the channels in the correct order for you.

Not sure that everyone would agree but I do think a part of it is the standard of education, especially literacy. Posts saying it is the fault of immigrants are usually full of spelling and grammatical mistakes. At least make an effort to learn your own language if you want to criticise foreigners.
