But shotgun ammunition with a shot size greater than 0.36" is already covered under section 1 😡????? And if it is a typo, then we are back to the ludicrous scenario of requiring FAC to feed a Section 2 gun.

It's not on that PDF, Quentyn. It is, however, in the 6th September update, on page 19: Amendments 6/9/18 And yes, the explanatory note clearly states that FAC will be required to purchase, acquire or possess shotgun ammunition - which is absolutely ludicrous. Another email to my MP coming up... Is it cock-up or conspiracy? MPs without a clue, or an underhand way of bringing shotguns into S1? Then there is the effective ban on reloading - evidence-based? Pah!

Apropos of a prior discussion on case deflectors, herewith the latest incarnation, fetchingly modelled by 'Enry the 'Iggins. Made from half a sheet of Kydex, left over from another project. Haven't done a live fire test yet, but it works fine with drill rounds.

I used an Evolution chop saw to cut up a load of 40mm and 50mm square steel tube a couple of years back. Works well for a small number of cuts, but you get loads of hot, sharp chippings, and the blades go blunt quite quickly, which gets expensive. If you need precise repeatable angles, then yes. Likewise for small pieces, yes, as you can clamp the job down. If you have a lot of cuts, I would suggest an ultra-thin cutting disk in your angle grinder. What are you making?

My Dad made quite a few replicas from those plans - Colt Navy, 1844 Army, Dragoon, 1796 Navy Sea Service Pattern flintlock, a Civil War era wheellock and a pepperbox. All would have worked had they been bored through, and not cross-drilled and pinned.

I've had a couple of goes at making a case catcher for a semi-auto - The first one is documented on here somewhere in the DIY forum - bag-type, mounted off a Weaver rail. Worked well enough, but a big intrusion into the right-line. Not too heavy at 7oz. The second was a copy of a magnetic catcher made by a couple of Dutch guys. This was mounted on a horizontal plate screwed to the side of the action body - again, this worked after a fashion, but heavier loads, coming out faster, tended to miss the magnet. It's also quite heavy - 14oz ish. Version 3 is combination of the low mounting plate with the bag mounted on top of it. When I finish it, I'll post some photos. The other night, I made a deflector to fit my pump action: having missed out on a opportunity to buy a BPS, I still need the cases to eject downwards. The plate is made from 0.9mm Kydex sheet (thermoplastic) and clips around the action body, holding the deflector plate over the ejection port. Pattern made in card first, then cut out of the Kydex with snips, heated over the stove and folded around the action, then clamped in place with cable ties while it cooled. The result then clips on and off readily, and is held (at the moment) by two cable ties. I will endeavour to come up with a more elegant fastening once I have tested it. The whole thing weighs less than an ounce... Something similar might well work on a semi auto, although you might need to use thicker grade of Kydex (it goes up to 2.5 mm, I believe. Again, photos will appear later, when I have taken them, and when I've sorted out the ftp app on my phone!

'Twas great ? Sitting in the pub garden with a beer and some mates, watching the aircraft over the Darent Valley, heading towards Biggin. Red Arrows, BBMF, Sally B, and something which might have been a Typhoon or two flying just low enough to be obscured by the yes from where we were. And Merlin music all weekend as well ( the two-seat Spitfires always fly over our house, and they will occasionally do some more energetic manoeuvres over the valley, presumably if the passenger has a. paid for it, and b. has a strong enough stomach... ?

That's the "make available" bit, I believe. It doesn't appear that the defences include use for dog training, so you might be on slightly iffy ground there. VCRA is a horrible mess of legislation, with which I have to deal when loaning out stage weaponry. My FEO wasn't much help when I asked, as it isn't strictly firearms law.

I hope your stormtrooper impersonation doesn't extend to your shooting abilities!

Have you tried asking on Shotgunworld? Lots of knowledgeable folk in there in amongst the capslock crew - just stay out of the politics forums!
