  1. I meant to say, “spend most of your budget on the best scope you can afford.” Sorry.
  2. The advice always was (still is) buy a cheap secondhand rifle because it will likely shoot better than you, and spend the rest of your budget on the scope.
  3. No need to take that attitude. The EELL version of the Silver Pigeon is a nice thing, a very pretty gun. But so many people on here refer to the Silver Pigeon as a ‘high grade gun’ and forget (or don’t know) that it is the entry level model.
  4. I still have my Dad’s flying log. Some of the comments make scary reading. He was tail gunner on Lancasters.
  5. I have taken a stand at a few game fairs, and you are right about the extremely high price. At the CLA at Belvoir in 2009 I rented the smallest possible covered pitch, 3mtr frontage by 10 deep, which cost £1750 with an electric point. I also stood at a few Midlands, which ranged from £700 to £850 for a pitch.
  6. Pigeon Watch is a bit like Bomber Command.........if you can’t take the flak you should not have signed up.
  7. Well, they would say it weighed 29gms if they thought you wanted to post it!
  8. Round here the barmy golfers are queuing up waiting for it to get light!
  9. With that example you are only comparing different grades of the makers cheapest, entry level model.
  10. Benjamin Wild’s resleeved a lovely Derby Rosson for me. A beautiful job for £40 + £2 for a new rib.......in 1969.
  11. If shooting has been your hobby.......you can give it up. For many of us shooting is a way of life. The only thing which should end a way of life is death.
  12. We never have any left overs here!
  13. I won’t require any payment, but I have now remembered (galloping dementia) that I gave some to a chap on PW some time back, so I will have to have a look what I have now as (again) I can’t remember. I will come back to you later today.
  14. But the pick ups (Toyota particularly) are too big and clumsy in the woods.
