  1. They look very good in the photos. They are fairly local to me and I had no idea they existed. It would be rude to ask how much it cost but could you give a vague idea of a starting price at all?
  2. Down our road they don't even bother to fill the pothole, usually just put a smear of tarmac on the edge of the pothole as the council define a pothole as having a ' verticle edge '. Last one they fixed took two transits tippers and a lorry, six men and about an hour to we've about a meter. Sort of sums up the whole issue of councils not having any money.
  3. Indeed, it doesn't hurt to know it could travel a mile. Personally I think it's just as important to know a .22 hollow point is likely to pass right through something like a rabbit which is why a backstop is essential.
  4. The price is in the photo, if you enlarge it and squint you can just about make them out, I think. £75 for the 12g and £125 for the .410?
  5. Just plastic wads as that's what the instructions mention.
  6. With my ported modded 410 you are advised to not use plastic wads as they can leave bits of plastic blocking the barrel. If you do use plastic wads you are advised to check the barrel after each shot. Not easy to do on a single break barrel let alone a pump.
  7. I've never been one to support banning something just because a few may break the law, we don't ban all cars because some break the speed limit. Surely if there's a genuine reason to ban lead then you need to put resources in place to ensure the ban is upheld? I know plenty of people use clay carts for pigeons but won't they still use cheap 24g carts? What about practical shot gun shooters, you don't want to be shooting steel at steel plates, and many PSG shooters like something along the 30g no. 5...

  9. Not at all, probably just more honest and aware of my driving. Personally I like the option of a limiter.
  10. I don't agree. For example, I'm not used to driving in 20 zones and when I drive I tend to prefer looking out the windscreen rather than stare at the speedo. What I've found in the past is all the other road users including bus drivers, not responding police etc are exceeding 20 so you get drawn along and exceed the limit yourself. My car now has a basic limiter you set yourself, it stops you accelerating over the setting but doesn't brake for you if you go down a hill and exceed the limit (it does give an audible warning). It's very handy for driving through long roadworks where the limit has been dropped from 60 to 40 and many motorists still drive at 60.

    410 Tps wads

    Non-toxic wads like these: https://www.claygame.co.uk/410-tps-non-toxic-wad-pd50
  12. Yes. Apart from automated responses, which are not always sent, I've never had confirmation my records have been updated. I gather that it can take months for the details to actually make it into your electronic certificate record.
  13. How much does it cost to check if it is proof and how much is the gun worth? It's my understanding you can gift an out of proof gun. I have also seen out of proof guns in auctions with the auctioneer stating they will only sell to an RFD. Obviously there may not be any there or any that would want the gun.

    Parcelforce

Small claims court? I've not had any problems with them although I'm in when they turn up so always collect my parcel from the driver. They do take a photo of the item being delivered so if they've not provided you with that I would have thought you would have a case (subject to the T&Cs). As for ombudsman, over the years I've referred things to various ombudsmen I've never found them to be any help at all.
  15. I don't have a local gun shop but I do support the shop I use even if it's a good hours drive away. Common cartridges are also cheaper there. However, I have used Just Cartridges to get cartridges the shop doesn't stock, such as less common .410 carts.
  16. We're only in early October down here and the pheasant season started on the 1st.
  17. Non native but they've been here a long time, is sweet chestnut native? I've also found syc not that invasive in many places and I view it as a reasonable replacement for ash if you want to harvest firewood. Agree with the wild and bird cherry.
  18. I expect you'll keep the squirrels down but in my woodland they hammered the hornbeam and field maple before moving onto the oaks. I'd prefer to add some sycamore but you may not be able to. I also like to add that boat willow slips, I cut mine for free and they root easily, grow fast and provide something for critters to eat before the main trees establish and grow away. When you say no protection all it takes is a single roe to wander through and it'll take out a large number of growing tips.
  19. I did try the 'join basc' option to renew but that declined my card twice (not a problem with the card I'll add). My partner renewed the next day over a the phone and was told you have had problems with card payments and the members area has been out of action for a while. It would have been nice to have been told I'm my renewal pack.
  20. Has anyone else had a problem renewing their BASC membership? Their online members area isn't working and refers you to a phone number that isn't answered and that refers you to their site! I did find another section to renew without logging in but after typing in all my details it failed due to a problem with BASC. It seems they can't process credit card payments at the moment? I don't wish to turn this into another moan about BASC but I would have thought they would make renewals possible.
  21. If you go here: http://www.gualandi.it/en/tables.html there's data for various viht powders for lead.
  22. Or a buyer can bag a bargain. However, last time I went to the sporting auction at Hatherleigh there were a few 'dealers' who bought items that could be sold on easily so I'd be cautious about some of the cheaper bargains.
  23. I think it depends on what type of shooter you are and if you're likely to shoot any of the other gallery rifle comps. I know some who use high mag but I prefer something 3x9 or less so I can come up on aim ok without actually watching where my shots land.
  24. So that's about $95? On a serious note, what's the delivery charge? I could probably manage a £100 order on my own but could others club together? Unfortunately they're out of .410 TPS wads.
  25. Have you used subsonics in a 20 and did they make much difference? I picked up a lovely light 20g SxS and as otheres have said it kicks even with light cartridges. I'd have thought a .410 of even a light 12 bore if you're going to trim it would be better.
