  1. Beak looks too thin for a Siskin, I'd suggest yellow wagtail or similar.
  2. Sort of half related to this thread. I saw this the other day, very tempted myself but I don't need another gun to tinker with. https://acpshooting.com/rifles/rossi-taurus-circuit-judge-semi-auto-45-45lc-410-rifles/6841 .45LC and .410.
  3. Completely agree with asking questions, better to ask than assume something. Although you may well end up with multiple contradictory answers. I will add that it'll depend on what you are using the cartridge for and the components it consists of. I've used a 308 for a fair bit of rapid fire target shooting and I don't crimp for that. I've slimmed down the decapping rod/mandrel slightly so when the bullets I use are seated snugly. I don't have any problems with the bullets being pushed into the case or coming loose. I'm currently working on some light loads for a 303 and have found these must be crimped. I chronographed some cartridges that were uncrimped and the spread in velocity was terrible, you could tell from the cases the powder wasn't burning cleanly. A nice crimp with the lee die and the velocity spread narrowed and the cases were much cleaner showing the powder was burning more completely.
  4. I don't know about other providers but on EE using the phone to call or text over WiFi (not WhatApp) incurs call charges.
  5. Prices depend on what primer we're talking about. At the moment European shotgun primers are under £40 / 1000 from a few places, but stock is limited and new stock is likely to go up in price. US shotgun primers seem to be much more, around £70+. US Pistol and rifle primers seem to be £70+ / 1000 with some like Federal Gold well over £100 / 1000. Even so stock is very limited and I've heard reports that new stock is unlikely this year. I wonder if the prices will go down when more stock arrives?
  6. Complaints to our highways department are just ignored. The only thing they will take note of is if enough people claim and they pay out.
  7. Actually I expect if far more people claimed / complained then the councils would do more to fix the potholes.
  8. Well, 22CF doesn't seem to be a frequently used term and I would logically assume that's anything from .220 to 229, so basically anything that shoots a .223/224 bullet. Certainly not a .243 or .270. But why are they limiting in to .270, when the guidance states "However, for the larger species (Fallow, Sika and Red deer), .270 and larger are generally more suitable." I also thought they shouldn't force someone to buy another rifle, so if someone has a .308 they shouldn't be forced to buy say a .270 just to meet an arbitary rating for the land?
  9. Did you get one in the end? If so what do you think of it? Anyone else have any comments on them?
  10. My initial thoughts would be you would load them like a .410 brass case and glue/seal in an over shot card. A bit of a curious google proved me wrong and shot capsules do seem to be used. I'd be concerned of getting hold of them in the UK as they seem very rare. These links any help: https://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php?topic=41648.0 http://www.fourten.org.uk/mwpre410.html
  11. I think the logic is the chain brake gets activated and the helmet stops the blow to the head. I wear mine mainly to stop bits falling on me (happens a fair bit when felling ash these days) or stopping the odd bit flying up when logging. Going back to kickback, @paul1966 , if you don't know already you should be standing to one side when logging, so your head is never over the blade. Plenty of simple videos about.
  12. This might help, various powders, gauges with plastic and fibre loads. http://www.gualandi.it/en/tables.html
  13. For lead bullets? I checked the online data today and I can't find any N310 data for plain lead bullets, only data for jacketed or plated. As far as I can tell all the lead data is in their cowboy action section: 38 Special: https://www.vihtavuori.com/reloading-data/cowboy-action-reloading/?cartridge=40 357 Mag: https://www.vihtavuori.com/reloading-data/cowboy-action-reloading/?cartridge=35
  14. Load data for HP-38 can be found here: https://shop.hodgdon.com/hodgdon/hodgdon-hp-38 I know quite a few people who use N310 but I went down the N320 route as there was some data available. I wonder why Viht don't publish data for .38? I also note the NRA seem to want people to use published data to shoot on their ranges: https://nra.org.uk/safety-notice-hand-loaded-ammunition/
  15. What have you got and what can you get? I use Viht N320 but prefer Hodgdon HP38. Ramshot Zip is a cheaper option and there's a fair bit of 38/357 data for some of the shotgun powders out there.
  16. If the brass has been sized slightly too short, so the shoulders are a thou of an inch or two to short, that could cause the problem.
  17. Under the posters name it says "From:Solihull". I'm note sure if this is visible on all devices but it is on a PC.
  18. Yes, as far as I know you can still destroy a shotgun yourself and notify, no idea about a 22LR. https://www.shootinguk.co.uk/answers/legal-answers/destroy-a-shotgun-93202
  19. I couldn't find them by searching on their site either but could via google. I assume they're a new offering and their site will be updated at some point. Interesting to hear how people get on with them.

  22. I don't think they use the word clogged up. On my 410 hushy it just has a metalic noise when using subsonic carts, this seems to be reduced when plenty of carts have been fired. It's quiet enough for me either way. If noise was a big issue it might be worth ensuring the mod is a bit sooty.
  23. I'm not defending what's happened at all, just pointing out that many of the 'explanations' given also don't stack up. I've seen revolvers not index correctly, sears wear and hammers get stuck so almost anything is possible. That's why we're taught in the UK not to point a gun at anyone.
  24. That video doesn't explain much. Some makes of primers are far harder to set off than others, so a CCI primer may not go off on some guns at full cock whereas a Federal primer will. If the hammer spring is hard enough to set off the CCI then I would not be surprised to see the primer go off with a small amount of hammer fall. To be honest, without having the exact gun in front of me I could tell you what it's capable of doing, I've seen all sorts of things happen.
  25. IIRC it's only there to stop you cross threading the threads, it shouldn't ever touch the barrel. I'd email them and ask if you're unsure, when I got mine they told me "leave a 4 thou clearance which is just enough to get a piece of paper through"
