Breastman
So the shandy-belly's plan this year is to have it so far away that no Northerners turn up and they win by default?? Disgraceful! Could not be @$r3d with a 4-5hr drive both ways, are there any train stations nearby? Mungler
Right then, there is just too much prima donna gayness brewing. I had a bit of a journey to Hodnet last year and stayed in a Premier Inn. The journey was with friends and was a laugh, we got to the hotel early and straight into the pub where we started drinking and didn't stop laughing. Hodent was a good ground and I shot it to the best of my ability. I also had a good laugh zippy tying peoples gun slips to trees and other such hilarious japes and tom foolery. Some people on here really don't know how to have a good time. Everyone, take a deep breath. The selection of the ground (any ground) was never going to suit everyone (it's physically and geographically impossible) but nonetheless, it's a nice ground and more to the point the staff could not be more helpful. Everyone, whatever is troubling you, let it go, it doesn't matter. Go with it, it will be a great day and fun.
MC
I have just thought of a solution to all this northern whinging. Why don't we all just go to our local skeet range on a day that suits us and shoot 100 skeet. That way everyone will shoot the same birds and the same ammount. The scores can then be added up and see who wins the trophy. Then you tight ***** can't be bothered to drive for more than 10 minutes *** jockey northerners will be able to take part without being away from the comfort of your armchair/pigeon loft/working mens club for more than a couple of hours. As it is skeet and no bird is any sort of distance you will be able to use the cheapest cartidges you can lay your hands on and won't have to walk very far on the ground either. HDAV
It would be a trek from S.Wales but if we could get 3/4 to a car probably not too bad for a day out 3.5 hours but a tricky route. at the moment i could do any of the days so will wait till one is chosen before trying to firm up arrangements, an idea of cost, start time, charity, format would be good, Just sporting? after 4 hours in the car to shoot 60 sporting and go home would be a bit disappointing! I would imagine the cost will be between £40 - £50, (includes Charitable donation?), the start time will probably be about 10.00am, the charity is still TBA, the format will hopefully be a 100 bird round of English Sporting over a minimum of 12 stands? The shoot will also probably be squadded, hopefully the Ground staff will allocate squads of max 6 persons as people book in? Hopefully the ground will also run a pool shoot / warm up stand..?? It's not my favourite ground, a flat field with a few earth banks and a couple of towers, also it's a bitch to get to, and the targets are never very exciting, but they do have a nice clubhouse, and they sell ammo at the ground. But, hey ho, it's all for a good cause, I hope..?? Cat Edited January 16, 2011 by Catamong
magman
Now i will add my thoughts I see its been renamed charity shoot , no longer north v south charity shoot( should be south v south publicity shoot ) Don't mind the drive but i would bet this ground is within an hours drive for Teal not the case for the likes of Tam :yp: why not make it within the m25 then it would be central Where's the next one , Glasgow wonder how that would go down Ps, well that's one way for the south to win
PhilR
Well it was North v South last year, so far the sake of equality should it be East v West this year
Paul223
I see its been renamed charity shoot , no longer north v south charity shoot Rob makes a good point, is it north V's south? or has the competition element been removed and we'll be shooting 'easy' targets with just the odd harder stand

As it is skeet and no bird is any sort of distance you will be able to use the cheapest cartidges you can lay your hands on and won't have to walk very far on the ground either. This is rich coming from the guy who systematically lambasts anybody on here that travels large distances to shoot decent targets and recoils in horror at the suggestion of driving beyond the Essex border to shoot clays. I travel frequently to shoot - 75 miles would be 'local', but 185 is too far to travel in day (for a 9-10am start, anyway). It gets too pricy if overnight stays are involved. If it were in the Autumn or Winter it would be fine, but there are a lot of shoots on around May/June and I'll need to budget accordingly. Sporting Targets is a good ground, but like Cat says, it's basically a flat field with some small embankments dumped in it. It will be nowhere near Hodnet for target quality. I'm sure everyone that goes will have a great time though and depending on the charity chosen, I will probably still make a donation
