Cranfield
i am still saving up for the postage costs Set the delivery costs against the fuel costs of driving to the nearest Gunshop (and probably paying more for the cartrdiges)and its not such a bad deal. spiceychilli57
Ive just bought 6,000 gamebore xlr and the quote just carts sent me wasnt the greatest they wanted the same per 250 on that size order as the local country store wanted on just one slab of 250! plus the 125quid for delivery ended up with getting them for £40 per 250 which wasnt too bad suppose if you wanted a few of each then they might be worth looking at just carts Edited March 20, 2011 by spiceychilli57
al4x
£125 for delivery you sure you have that right should be more like £55-£75 for delivery on that quantity or free if you order 10,000 We ordered some last year and as Cranfield says offsetting the cost of diesel to drive to pick them up the cost isn't too bad. its coupled with the ability to buy what you want as their range is better than most. personally their extreme game is one of the better priced game cartridges even when you include delivery. We are going to do a bulk buy before next season and I'll pick them up which is worth thinking about if you aren't too far away
AlistairB
I bought 1500 Xtreme Game from them last year to split with some mates. All in, at £50 a slab they were a reasonable price and do they job perfectly well.
danimal
its generally cheaper tpo buy in bulk from your local rfd
Dunkield
That depends where you live an how much margin your RFD wants to make. Where I live it is cheaper to buy from JC than it is to buy local, or drive to where it is cheap. I bought 1000 of thier bin ends last week and dicount almost covered the postage, so it was the same as having them delivered for a fiver. Ordered Monday, they were on the doorstep 9am Tuesday, and not a single litre of deisel used by me
AlistairB
its generally cheaper tpo buy in bulk from your local rfd I couldnt get anything in the league from him for that price, so JC it was - i'd prefer to support a local business, but at the end of the day it all comes down to the amount of bucks in your wallet. Guest cookoff013
its generally cheaper tpo buy in bulk from your local rfd - in some cases it isnt. one shop in particular charge 2x the normal rate. i`m not kidding £80 for 250 white gold. thats £320 /k. you need a mortgauge to pull the trigger on one cartridge ! del.gue
I just had 250 Clear Pigeon delivered and a box of Alphamax BB. I think you can order any amount you want. You obviously save by ordering more.
utectok
None of my local rfd can sell cartridges for less than just carts including postage.
alastair0903
they may not be the cheapest but are near enough for me . i faxed through a order through on sun night and by 10 am on tuesday i had 4500 carts on my door step , for that reason they are great . just makes thing easy and you have a very good range of carts to pick for all occasions
butchdickason
I ordered 1000 from JC late yesterday afternoon, they delivered this morning at 11, well worth the £15 delivery charge. Butch
phaedra1106
I would like to order 2000 Hull Comp X Fibre but where could I legally store them if there's not enough room in the gun cabinet and ammo safe?
fuzrat
You dont have to keep shotgun cartridges in a safe, just keep them somewhere out of plain sight and out of reach of any kids etc. best not to keep them under the bed as they burn hot as hell in a fire. Back of wardrobe is usually a good place or up in the loft. Fuzrat
phaedra1106
Thanks, that's what I thought but just wanted to make sure I hadn't mis-read anything about it As I'm too knackered (or physically disabled to be politically correct!) to carry them upstairs they will go in the cupboard where the gun cabinet is, as it's got a locked door that should be OK legal wise. There are no "kids" with access, mine are 16, 20 and 23 and are all fully aware of the safety aspects of shooting. blackbirdtrev
I think just cartridges is quite expensive. I use english sporter and pay £36.60 per slab of 250 from both Scats and Mole Valley farmers. Just cartridges want £4.95 per box or £43.75 per slab of 250. Even jc 1000 price is still dearer than if i brought 4 seperate 250 slabs from either of the other 2. jc price per 1000 £153.00 and £146.40 from Scats and Mole Valley. rcooke25552
your 17, your not old enough to buy cartridges. you may get away with it in your local rfd, but just carts double check. trust me, i tried it lol
Sco77w
Ive just had a quick compare of some prices on just carts and my local RFD web sites and My local gun shop is cheaper, admittedly only £8 on 1000 carts but add that to the £15 delivery and it makes a fair saving (enough to pay for tonights take-away for me and the Mrs.) Chances are I wouldn't be home when they tried to deliver and have to collect from a depot somewhere anyway. Support your local shops while they are still there!
humperdingle
It's not just the price of cartridges, it's the selection available too. I have 3 local RFDs. One sells Gamebore, another Lyalvale and the other... Well, not very much! Just cartridges seem to sell a bewildering array of clay, game and specialist loads. I bet their stocks are nice and fresh because of the fast turnover, too... Not sat about a shop for years.
al4x
Its nice saying support your local shops when they are decent shops, round here they just milk you for all they can get cartridge choice is very limited so you end up with something you didn't want at more than you wanted to pay. JC must be doing something right as they are still there, I like their own brands which are just re boxed carts made by major manufacturers just cheaper
