bakerboy
On a similar thread the other day we spoke about having one eye open or both, some one stated they found it easier with one eye closed, would it be even easier than with both eyes closed? but also at the same time making it more difficult by making it harder and thereby by becoming a better shot, confused.com? yickdaz
could shoot one handed gun down for all targets then in competition use both hands gun up for all of them that way the targets seem easier. as said it all depends how much time you have on a target i prefur to shoot with gun down or just out of shoulder, but when target dictates shoot gun fully in shoulder. Spara Dritto
Yes, I suppose you could always practice shooting off one leg as well, just to make it a bit harder. Cat. From that reply I take it your fairly new to the sport? When you say "Just to make it a bit harder" I take it you find mounting the gun hard enough as it is... In that case just shoot what ever way you prefer. As you get better try incorprating gun down into your shooting. All in all enjoy it. Gordon R
With Beretta Italy's advice he could develop into a useful shooter, but obviously not to his level. :good:
Spiderdude
Well, you probably will be, but it's not suitable for every target on an ENGLISH SPORTING layout Correct, I have been told that for certain clays, gun up is better along with regulations on certain disciplines. But in the majority of cases gun down is the better option.

dougall
Beretta italy, Where in Sussex do you shoot? Are you new to the sport? Are you having lessons,if so where and from which instructor? ATB.
Thunderbird
It was a real revelation to me the first time an instructor taught me to read targets and see which would be best approached gun up or down. The thing that was the biggest lesson was the fallacy that gun down somehow gives you less time to prepare, in fact it gives you more. For me now usually it's gun down for all except trap-style going away birds. I take rabbits gun-up too usually.
poontang
In a comp, sure shoot gun up but when practicing why not make it hardest possible to make yourself become a better shot? You will never excel is you always take the easier option. I must try that. Let me just get this straight, I practice shooting 'gun down', then shoot a completely different method and shoot 'gun up' in competition? Sounds like a winner to me
