Alpha Mule
Looks like the pin hit it hard enough to deform the case. Subsequent rounds have fired fine. Winchester T22s (WT22LR) So do I pull it apart, or something else? Edited January 9, 2012 by Alpha Mule
garyb
Put it in again and fire.
mr smith
Put it in again and fire. Position so the firing pin will hit a different part of the rim.
Imperfection
Someone i know has a CZ and every so often it will puncture the rim of the case when fired. He's tried various brands of ammo and even had a replacement bolt to no avail.Because it happens so infrequently (maybe 500 rounds or more) it could be down to the case occasionally being a tiny bit thinner perhaps? mick miller
It's more likely a result of an uneven distribution of the primer. Put it in and re-use.
Dekers
I think I could count all the .22lr misfires I've had in my life on one hand, but I have had one with no primer in the rim.
Harnser
Badly primed case ,the primer is spun into the cases as a liquid and some times dos not coat the whole rim . Will proberbly fire if chambered in a different postion . Harnser .

Paddy Galore!
i had a batch of remmi ammo that used to do this all the time, about 10%-15% had no primer in at all, pulled the heads out and binned them.
Vince Green
It happens with .22s from time to time. Try it again. If it doesn't go a second time pull the head off with a pair of pliers and chuck it.
Alpha Mule
Tried it again and it went bang this time. Ta for the info and advice.
Alpha Mule
And for my next trick (drum roll): Ta da (this is the second one that's had a double-tap)! I think I should apply for a job in quality control, because all I seem to do is find duds and split cases. Batch #: H15RC1234
Alpha Mule
Good grief! The next 5 out of the box (I swear on my daughter's eyes that this is true). I'm not even going to bother rotating them to try again. Anyone local fancy 50 rounds of 'ammo' for free (may or may not go bang) (being straight here, I've had enough - they are dirty and fail) (Obviously you'll need a FAC [before anyone starts trying to be clever])? Alpha Mule
TBH I think I'm flogging a dead horse there. I took the HMR split case jobbies back, which he returned to the rep (yonks ago), but we still haven't heard anything back. RFD didn't take my 'hint' that he should give me a box 'gratis' and claim it back from the rep.

I have had the same problem with the last batch of Remington .22s/ Golden Hi-Speed. Out of a clip full in the 10/22 there have been as many as 3 that would not fire. I don't cotton much to ammo that does not work the FIRST time so I chucked them in the safe. I am thinking I should send Remington an email on the issue just to hear their reply. hyflier
Buy some Eley .22 subs
Cannon
Always had problems with Remington rimfire rounds. Last box I had there were about 15 ftf's. Eley and Winchester seem to be far more consistent at not much of a mark up. The Remmies would be fantastic for Russian roulette
Uncle Albert
I had this happen once with Winny X subs. As I was new to rimfires I was understandably apprehensive. Ran through the hang-fire routine and took the round out. When I got home I took the bullet out and ****** me there was no powder or primer in the damn thing. This is the only time this has happened though in about 400 rounds so I'm not too concerned except for the bunny I missed out on.
