Yep, voluntering at the relay locally.

Re the waste of money I'm sure all the folk who have been working on the Stratford site to name but one, all the suppliers involved in the developments etc would beg to differ!

There will also be money in it for hotels, shops restaurants etc!

But the best outcome will be the sporting legacy and the inspired youngsters!

I'm sure some on here have had work from the games so come on let's have your stories!

Too many whingers on here! Blah Diamond Jubilee blah Olympics blah blah blah

I passes the end of my road in on 7 July and I will be making the effort to see it. I am flying back a day early to see it (well not strictly true coming back for speech day at kids school but will kill two birds with one stone).

Ah Smig, perhaps you missed my point (yes it is tad cynical) I'm interested - but only the hype, the "celebs" dragged out (we don't have any of our own in Cornwall do we?)and all the toadies that follow on! Sorry but there are people literaly starving in the UK.

Its a huge white elephant, ostentatious and out of context in the current climate.

Just watched the airsea rescue copter fly it to lands end and my first thought is about the cuts that service faces.I dont anticipate feeling any fiscal benefit in yorkshire, but would love to watch an in depth financal documentary to learn more of the case For the games.

The olympic torch sets of on its route at 7am tomorrow...its going to pass my house at some point tomorrow...

I know there will be people on here that will mock and say this and that...We've heard from the miserable brigade before thanks....

I for one will be out on my doorstep waving it past...

Anybody else got plans to cheer it on....

Yes, I am heading to Newquay at 13:00, good friends of ours, their daughter is carrying a torch on the first bit there.

As my business is involved in tourism I am really pleased the worlds cameras are on Cornwall.

I'm on a different bandwagon.

Can you honestly see a benefit to Cornwall even if "the worlds cameras" are pointing their lenses in our direction? A few fleeting shots of the runners and, if we are lucky a bit of background. They did not (yes, I watched 5 minutes this morning) show much of Land End.

Note that last nights little gathering at Culdrose had 500 invited guests!!! The mind boggles.

£7000 for a spare ticket at the games on Radio 4 this morning.

Benefiting Cornwall and me YES, i have an extra 12 families in this weekend who have come down from other parts of the country to see the torch. That is money into my company, these people are also buying in the local shops and eating in the local pubs. How can that not be good for Cornwall.

I bow to your wisdom and all the best for future tourism due to the torch. One could ask if the accomodation would have been vacant if it were not for the torch!

Anyway, the best of luck with it all. I'm staying well out of the way with a very large bag of humbugs!
