Muddy Funker
Do you not think it's all hot air? I think they're all a bunch of liars just saying what people want to hear to get into power.
al4x
its about action and they are doing all they can, yes staying in power is a concern but the easy way would be to not make the cuts and upset quite so many people. But and the big but is that is what Gordon Clown did and look where its got us, the simple fact is the world economy is knackered and they are treading a tightrope. Once the economy starts to come back the tax revenues will balance the books far easier however public spending is totally out of control and that is entirely the fault of the last Labour government. Its a scary prospect them getting back in at the next election hopefully enough will see there is only one sensible route forward but there are too many out there far better off if they get back in power. They aren't the hard working in society either

Paddy Galore!
they were saying virtually the same thing when they first got into power, now things are at least as bad if not worse three yrs on, when are they going to do something that works for the better? making people unemployed doesn't really help.
al4x
making public sector workers unemployed has to help the sheer number are unsustainable, if you look they have reduced the defecit in the face of falling tax revenues its just a mamouth job. Couple that with a worldwide recession and things could be far worse. If Labour get back in then we will go the same way as Greece
Paddy Galore!
making public sector workers unemployed has to help the sheer number are unsustainable, of course, rather than a drawing wage from the state they're now drawing the dole, a huge saving. i'm aware of the mess the world is in, it's just not a nice position to be in on a personal level. Drive By
Liebour's tactic of spending taxes to create jobs in the public sector, in order to reduce unemployment figures and give people jobs, is flawed to the core. We were essentially a country living on a credit card - to my mind that is not a sustainable way to operate. Most of the people in massive financial trouble now are the idiots who decided to live a life they couldn't afford on credit cards. I know a lot of people who don't understand the concept of living within your means. Unless there is an urgent need i don't agree with buying anything on credit. People need to learn to save and buy the stuff they want with money they have. I know a lot of people dislike the tories but at least they are giving the country a reality check. Otherwise we will continue to live outside our means and will end up needing to be bailed out like so many other countries.

Gimlet
What austerity? What cuts? When is it going to start? We need a PM to the right ofThatcher, we've got a Heath. Cameron has also pledged to continue throwing money into the sovietised collectivist trade union job creation scheme that passes for a healthcare system and to maintain foreign aid merely to prove he's a soft and fluffy Tory who cares. Why? We effectively provide free health care for anyone from the EU or anywhere else in the world who chooses to walk across our collapsed borders, and we pay alms to India, among others, a country with nuclear weapons and ambitions for a space program, as a token to assuage post-colonial guilt. Let them sort their own bloody people out, they're nothing to do with us. I have no post-colonial guilt Mr Cameron, leave my money alone. If you feel guilty scatter your own mney around the world, not mine. Can't see any reason to end tax avoidance efforts any time soon. People need to learn to save and buy the stuff they want with money they have. Exactly, and that's the proof that the people who are really responsible for the state of our economy are the people who live here, not the politicians or the banks. Yes, the banks made the money easily available, and the politicians didn't stop them, but the buck stops with Joe Public who "released the equity" in his over-priced suburban semi and blew it on a new Mazda and a plasma TV from China. Personal responsibility seems to be a forgotten art.

They aren't the hard working in society either I agree entirely ...... The money that clown spent on stupid things like .....Christmas bonuses for the elderly... Cutting back on Hospital waiting lists ....Free Bus passes ....Mininum wages ...Free TV licences for the over 80s ... increased Doctors and Nurses wages. I feel sick just thinking about it. Bigstep
If they stopped sending our money abroad, cut immigration and chucked out all the people that preach hatred against our british troops like Abu hamza I think we would be a lot better off. FarmerSim
There's a line in the Film "Hunt for Red October" - Jeremy Pelt, senior security adviser says:- "I'm a politician, which means that when I'm not kissing babies, I'm stealing their lollipops" IMHO, Nailed it. al4x
so do we have anyone who thinks Milliband is a real improvement?
Drive By
There seems to be plenty of people who think he is better - or his party. Trouble is I would be embarressed to think someone like him represented me and my country, it's very superficial but then are most of the population. Plus they have no plans to actually sort out this mess the country is in, they seem to think spending our way out it the best. Does that ever actually work?!?
Gimlet
so do we have anyone who thinks Milliband is a real improvement? Certainly not. Milliband, Balls and Brown, and Blair, should be on trial for what they've done to this country. But Cameron being the best we've got isn't nearly good enough. He can and should be a damn sight better. He needs to grow some nadgers. Appeasing the media and occupying the 'centre ground' whatever the hell that is, is the mark of a follower of political fashion not the leader of a nation. We know what's wrong, its blindingly obvious. We need someone who wants to put it right rather than merely occupy high office.
