Signed.

I used to meet her a on a regular basis when she was at Argos..Ice Maiden

Typical of the sort of woman that's prepared to climb the corporate greasy pole to senior management. Stick a knife in your back as soon as look at you. Dangerous and nasty, God knows how they find husbands.

The current objective of this petition is to reach 10,000 signatures, an ambitious figure, however with your help i truely believe this is achieveable. Play just a small part in defending the sport you love from those minority groups who would have it made illegal.

Just as these groups push with small steps to criminalise the sport, we must stand united and push against these groups to get our voice heard. Each sportsman needs to defend their quarter and not hide behind the organiseations such as BASC and the CA that work to defend our sports and ways of life but stand beside them and in whatever small way work together to get our voice heard.

Every name on here counts. This is not just about shooting, its about a moral obligation we have, to stand up for what we believe in. With ten thousand signatures, and anyone other people can influence, agreeing not to shop at WH smiths untill this policy is retacted we can place the company under pressure to listen to our voice.

Thankyou."

In 24 Hours we have nearly reached 1000, which is an extremely positive response. In the mean time try and do your bit to spread the word to likeminded and rational people. Send emails, texts, Facebook and twitter messages to spread the word of this petition and get the voice of the shooting comunity heard.

An easy way for members to spread the message within the forums would be to Link the petition in their signatures!

Please check the petition regularly for updates.

I've put the link in my signature, removing the Red Squirrel Survival Trust one for now.

I hear you can get something which shortens the link from http://www.change.or...oting-magazines to something much shorter like bit.ly. If we could do that, we could post the link in letters to newspapers and persuade non shooters to sign it.

I just sent them this email...

"Dear WH Smith

Just wondered why, when you cannot get a driving licence at the age of 13, you would be happy to sell Top Gear magazine to one of your younger customers? 2,284 people died in 2009 in traffic accidents!

Also wondered why, when you can legally get a shotgun licence as young as 9, you will not sell Shooting Times to someone who is 13? There were 58 gun homicides in Great Britain in 2010, many of which were gang/drugs related and nothing whatsoever to do with shooting sports and the countryside.

Also in 2009, 645 people died of alcohol related causes and 2,325 died of skin cancer so I'd be grateful if you could also look at the supply of "The Good Pub Guide" and "A Place in The Sun" magazine to under 14's please. See where I'm coming from?

I'm wondering why this is now your company policy as it is a dangerous precedent to set. Will you be looking at all your publications and any associated crime/death figures and apply the same thinking and policy across them all?

I look forward to your reply."

Will update with any response although I'm not that hopeful of getting one!

I think I've managed to get a shorter link. It won't change anything, but it means you can write in to newspaper and magazines and share the link there. Easier than writing out http://www.change.or...oting-magazines, because people won't type that out from a newspaper or magazine.
