Earlier in the night we saw a transit pickup with 3 blokes in and a 4x4 with 4 up on the lane . Much later we were driving on the main road near this lane when 2 ****** jumped out and flagged us down . They asked if we were farmers to which we said no . Oh you must be hunters then . My transit van is stuck in the mud down the lane can you come tow us out . My first thought was they were out to try nab our guns from the landy so I told him we had to be somewhere and left to which they offered to pay . We just kept going . welsh1 Posted November 19, 2012 Report Share Posted November 19, 2012 Would have done the same,and as I left made a 101 call to let the local police know there were a few people out and about in places that you wouldn't expect them to be,might save some farmer having his sheep or diesel stolen,or quads. I didn't ring the old bill because if they were stuck on the lane there would have been no way the police could of got near them without a good trek . Some came and camped near my Yard, I set traps, stayed up half the night, kept my dogs indoors etc. Felt a right **** when they offered me a brew the next the morning, a nicer bunch of lads I have yet to meet. Would you take a chance with them in the middle of the night?? A cup of tea in the daylight is a tad different to a country lane at midnight in the middle of nowhere. Yes, they can be very charming and very good company. And if you treat them with respect and give them the benefit of the doubt, every man jack of them will stab you in the back it they get a chance. It is bred into them. My family have had more dealings with them than most over the past 50 years and I speak from bitter experience.
