Miles and Miles

Recommended Posts

Friday saw us heading out with seed on our minds as we were sure that we could find a decent seed field with all the drilling that had taken place over the week. After two hours of driving we had not seen a field with more that ten birds on it and nothing flighting. By 14.00 we happend to come across a sheep field with about thirty birds on it but it was very poor grass and clover but we decided to give it a go by 18.00 when we packed up we picked up sixty six pigeon and four crows. Saturday must be better.

Saturday morning saw us off on the treck again we found some farmers still drilling but kept on looking we checked last weeks clover, not a bird. We drove on and on and not many birds were flighting if they were they went to conifers and we suspect they were nesting. We came across some bean seeding that had been done three weeks ago and the soil was rock hard and the beans had pushed themselves out of the soil and it had a few birds on it , so we set up. After about an hour a sprayer turned up to spray the field so decoys in, spray, decoys out. He did us a favour as he went round the farm on other fields and moved the birds to us. We ended the day with seventy three pigeons and nineteen crows and jackdaws which was a good day . Over the two days we had covered one hundred and eighty miles in pursuit of pigeon. I think I know what happend all the Midland birds went down to the Cotswolds for a holiday to see uncle Jdog !!!!!!

If they did it must be the upper end, there were virtually none either on the deck or flighting in a 20-mile block I drove round in South Cotswolds today

You certainly had to work hard for those bags PC, but cracking result, hearty congrats, the effort was certainly worth it :good:
