English archer
Over the weekend, I found out that the permission I paid £300 for, was sold to me by an under keeper, who was claiming to be the head keeper, with no authority to sell it, the under keeper has denied this, saying I faked the paperwork. I went to the police, but they fobbed me off, saying its not fraud, and it's a civil matter, I can't afford a solicitor over this, so I'm £300 down. Then late last night, my disabled wife fell down the stairs, she went down 10 steps, severally hurting the hip she had replaced 2 years ago. Ambulance took her to hospital, after X-rays they released her in severe pain at 0450 this morning, becouse the X-rays showed no damage, the told her to just go to the doctors about the pain. No real reason for this thread, but I feel better for having written it.

robbiep
Small claims court : no solicitor to pay for, and it is VERY cheap. The one time I needed to start proceedings against someone, they settled in full with me 2 days before the hearing. Go to https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk Don't worry, its not some claim management scumbag service, it is the govt small claims court procedure. Hope your Mrs is better soon, and atb

bruno22rf
Dont you just love it?-I always thought that the old "Innocent till proven guilty " law was reasonable yet here we are,in the majority, suggesting that this "underkeeper" get a kick in the Gonads. While I have no reason to doubt the OP's honesty, why are people suggesting violence as a solution when we dont know for certain any of the facts?.The OP only joined in January so why is he more trustworthy than this underkeeper (who may have been a member of this forum for many years)-I dont get it,but I do wish your wife a speedy recovery. secretagentmole
1) How did you pay? If cash you have a problem, if by cheque you can prove he received the money, if by bank transfer you have him by the unmentionable danglies! 2) If payment by cheque what did you write on the cheque? If you wrote payment for permission on the back of it, the swine is going to have a hard time proving it was not money received for permission! 3) If payment by bank transfer you have him under section 2 of the 1968 theft act. Receiving money by bank transfer! It is a crime, an arrestable offence to receive money by electronic transfer, including ruddy Paypal! 4) It is a crime, it is fraud, fraud is not a civil matter! Perhaps it might be wise to complain to the Chief Constable. If it is investigated as a crime, and muppet under keeper says you forged the paperwork, it should not have his fingerprints on it. You can get fingerprints off paper! Try getting him to explain how his fingerprints are on the paper! Teal
I would go and politely speak with the landowner and explain the situation. I am sure that they will come up with a solution. I can't imagine they will look too kindly on the situation, as I would doubt they would even be aware of this £300 sum that has changed hands, and by rights should be paid to them. Very wise words indeed! While you might well feel that a good hefty kick in the gonads might make you feel better acting on the advice that Teal has given is by far the best option given so far. Then of course you can remember the old and very true saying - "What goes round comes back round" and he might well get his "just come uppance" and excatly what he deserves from his employers! Edit: Sorry, I almost forgot. My very best wishes to your partner for a speedy and full recovery after her fall! al4x
assuming it was cash then there is next to nothing you can do, speaking to the head keeper or landowner is an option but its your word against his and odds on getting your money back are very slim. However mentioning it to everyone you know in the shooting world nearby might well help to make him uncomfortable locally and at least let people know he is a scumbag.
