djrwood
Gents Im after a little bit of advice regarding watches. My parents bought me a large gold bracelet for my eighteenth which weighs about 6oz (don't ask why I wanted such a large bracelet but it was something that all of us lads had when we was eighteen). I should be able to get about £1800 for the bracelet but my old dear doesn't like the idea of me selling it just to fritter the money away, especially because it was a special birthday present. Therefore as a way round this, due to me never wearing the bracelet, I think I can convince her to let me sell it in order to buy a nice watch which I'll keep and ultimately use. I know very little about watches so basically I'm looking for a decent watch for under the 2k mark. I've always like the tag watches so can anyone recommend them or know if I should stay away as they are cack? Thanks in advance Dan

Puggers
Depends if you want a new model or are happy with pre-owned as the latter gives you a wider choice. Have a look at the Austin Kaye site for pre-owned and some ideas. If new, something like a decent Oris will give you change and has a sporty/military range compared to similarly priced Raymond Weil which can look a little dressy. If you can stretch a little more, or get lucky with negotiating a cash discount at your dealer (or they've some old stock models on sale) see if you can pick up a Breitling Colt for that kind of money. Good luck and enjoy the searching as with that kind of bunce behind you, you've got a lot to play with.
Rupert
Are you fussed over "new"?
TIGHTCHOKE
Tag or an Omega, I have both and thoroughly enjoy wearing them!
Rupert
I am an omega fan and own a seamaster titainium, some of there other models railmaster and speedmaster offer the same quality but a bit more exclusivity,I like to buy preowned as often this kind of thing is an accessory and can offer great value and be as new. Lord O War
I am assuming that it is 9 carat gold, in which case a good price. If it is a higher carat than that it will be worth more. Gold and silver prices are being slammed a bit at the minute so unless you really need to sell I would wait a bit. If there is a war with Syria then it should go up again. countryman
Have a look for a good used Breitling, it will last you a life time and not go out of fashion. Chris
guinty1
If you are thinking of buying a watch it is worth waiting until the xmas sales i got a omega from the omega shop last xmas for half price. There are plenty of bargains to be picked up at that time of year. If you cant wait tag have shops at outlet malls such as mcarthur glen, new watches but last years models, healthy savings to be made. Rupert
Tag are a nice item,a well promoted brand with a good image, they lack history abd heritage so remain for me a style choice rather than an engineered timepiece. I own omeg
Sat Rat
Breitling Avenger Seawolf (Titanium) is a nice looking watch I bought this over a Rolex Drawdeweller. You've just got to remember if you go for a self winding(automatic),they are not the best time keepers...!

Deker
You can't go far wrong with either an Omega or Breitling, it'll probably come down to which one looks better on your wrist, Breitlings can look too chunky on thin wrists
