955i
Ermmm..... I have seen much worse use of the language frequent this board on more than one occasion? I was asking to see if anybody had been scammed on gunwatch before not for the boards permission to reply to them :-) So you are considering selling to an abroad buyer with terrible use of English with a dodgy payment method and you couldn't figure out that it wasn't dodgy? I sent a similar answer to another post that I assumed was you but wasn't here http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/266031-gun-watch-scam/ If you believe it you are beyond help I'm afraid
Cranfield
Anyone who receives a suspicious response to an advertisement on Gun Watch should contact Admin immediately. Fortunately, most of these scams are rather obvious.
88b
This is a common scam on US Harley sites and Craigslist , I've never seen the navy one before it's usually serving in Iraq or Afghanistan . 99.9% sure they are not interested in your guns just your paypal details. As for the spelling and wording , I'd be suspicious of that it's too good for your average American .

Thunderbird
All these scams start the same way. Someone with less than brilliant command of the English language will always suggest that their 'agen't will pick it up from you. They obviously suggest PayPal and then will claim a refund saying that it was never received or sent. I had it when I was selling something recently. You can smell it a mile off. Usually on eBay it's someone who has registered that very day and has zero feedback. The account pops up and is usually closed a few days later. Obviously the more violently minded sellers can always arrange to meet the agent with a few of their Eastern European mates and knock seven bales out of them. I'm not of course suggesting this. Tim85
Report to Gun Watch and the Police, if they are scamming for money thats bad but if they could potentially be stealing guns too, then thats pretty hardcore crime!
Splashy
I would not hold out too much hope for the police to be interested. So far, no crime has been committed. I once sold a games console to someone and was a bit suspicious. I checked the delivery address on the electoral register and it did not match up. I looked at this buyer's history and he had bought several consoles. I contacted the sellers and they were due for delivery the next day. PayPal told me that it was a fraudulent transaction but the police were not interested in watching the guys doorstep since as far as I was concerned no crime had been committed .. I had not sent the console. When selling online get a buyers name and address. Check that against the electoral register and call the number supplied. Use a payment method other than PayPal or Western Union and trust your gut instinct.
Daz1986
I had an email from them this morning on a spoof address I made up ( was a pay pal style email ) saying new funds available. He then sent an email saying "if I read the small print I have to send money to his agent as he had sent to much and paypal will hold it till I put in a tracking number for western union". I tracked an email that is on the bottom of the paypal style email on another a common site and up came his name and a nice little picture of him ( who is from Nigeria )!!! I made a nice little headed letter from the met police fraud investigations team saying his I.p address had successfully been traced and we where on route to pick him up. I sent it back to the paypal style email address using the guys real name . He then replied through the paypal email address dropping all his cover and simply replied who is mike obana... On the reply to this I simply put Michael" you have just used the pay pal email address you have made up to send a very personal response and also the email address at the bottom of the pay pal email is your personal email linked to your Facebook account" I then said the Nigerian police have been informed!!! He replies I am in an Internet cafe so good luck!!! Would love to bump in to this man at some stage

Hamster
These scammers are everywhere, I had one when looking for a dog a while back that wanted money up front before shipping puppy from IOW , I played all dumb and was enjoying my own phishing exchanges when the trail finally went cold after telling them a friend lived there and would bring cash to collect.
