DIRTYHARRY
What do you prefer? and on what guns? I would sooner have a decent set of chokes than a longer barrel!
Gordon R
Fixed choke - 32" - two Salvinelli Monacos and a Browning B525 - all trap guns. Just bought a Miroku 800 - 30" barrels. Had a couple of shots on Sunday - felt odd - barrels too short.
welshwarrior
Beretta 682 original silver action gun has 28" and 32" 28 for game skeet some clays. 32 trap and FITAS high pheasants 28 bore beretta 28" barrels think 30" would have been better balanced with my 15 1/2" stock. but shot well with it any way
DIRTYHARRY
What is it with clay shooters and really long barrels? Is there a method behind it?
bostonmick
What is it with clay shooters and really long barrels? Is there a method behind it? The longer barrels are steadier and swing through targets smoother.i use nothing less than 30inch 28s are to fast.
DIRTYHARRY
I see, 30 inch is ideal for pretty much everything, clays and game, in my opinion that is. My semi auto is only 26" though with a 1" extended choke, makes for a good pigeon hide gun

remmyman
32 inch barrels on my old Miroku 3800 sporterised(yes that word again) trap gun. 28 inch on my Remmington Versamax, with a long receiver to cater for 31/2 inch shells the sight picture is nearly 2 inches longer than the Miroku. Alycidon
Every shotgun 28 inch. I am med height and med build so in 12 bore 28 inch suits me well. I have been very tempted by a 20 bore O/U with 29 1/2 tubes on it though, handled delightfully. A
TIGHTCHOKE
32" fixed choke full and 3/4 O/U for clays. 24" Multi-choke with Full in Semi-Auto for Pigeons. 291/2" Fixed choke 1/2 and full for Pheasants.
Scully
I don't really have a preference but most of my guns (Winchester 101's usually!) have been 28". My current game gun is a Teagued Renato Gamba Daytona Sporter 32" choked 1/2 and Full. Must admit the length of the barrels had me guessing for a while but used to it now. Winchester 101 28" Game gun fixed at 1/4 and 1/2. Winchester 1500 XTR 28" choked Full. This gun is as long as my 32" Sporter overall. Winchester 1300 XTR 28" choked Full. DIRTYHARRY
Just interested to see what people have and enjoy! A lot of the people on my local clay ground think that because they are shooting 32" o/u it makes them bigger and better, and with my semi auto sometimes out shoot the lot of them. theshootist
I have a 30" B325 for clays. I would prefer 32" as I am quite tall I think that they would slow down the gun and suit me better for clays. I have a 26" BLE with a churchill rib for game. Its great for walked up shooting and is light and super fast. I'm not confident on higher birds though as its easy to swing too far. Great for snap shooting though. I've just found a similar BLE with 30" barrels, which I hope will be perfect.
JohnfromUK
Barrel lengths have tended to 'come and go' in fashions. I prefer 28" or 30" on both s/s and o/u. If I had to choose one I would go 28" now, but 5 years ago that would have been 30". I have handled a 32" - which felt 'long' - and I do have a 27", which feels a bit short. Chokes - for most of what I do (a few clays and a bit of game), between IC and 1/2 suits fine. Fit, balance and trigger pulls seem more important to me. Just my views. Cosmicblue
33"....quarter and half choke, brilliant for long crossing clays.... To be fair the HPX isn't like a conventional long barrelled gun from a handling perspective - it feels short
Ears
Miroku 32" mk38 trap with mk38 sporter stock. 3/4 + full (game and Vermin) Browning B725 32" sporter M/C but mostly 3/4 + full (Clays)
Oli383
Ive just got a silver pigeon sporter 30 M/C as they fit me well being tall, plus i was told they have better re sell value but not 100% sure on that and get the best of both worlds in my mind being a 30?
