.philmypower.
Took my gopro in last week whilst dismantling this oak. Tree had a big split in a limb leaning towards the HV power lines so the landowner wanted it out. This was also my first dismantle using my zigzag which worked great. Not everyone's cup of tea but thought I'd share with those interested. Good job we took it out before these winds came.
Jonty
Brilliant video mate! I know nothing about tree felling but learned a lot there - irrespective of what the job is it's always interesting to see someone who obviously knows what they're doing at work. woody801
That's my sort of job! Nice open field to drop stuff in, No lowering or prize rose bushes to avoid. the zig zag looks impressive as well, just watched a demo on youtube. Think I'm gonna have to pester my boss for one . Great vid and a job well done, Nice one.
.philmypower.
The zigzag is a smashing bit of kit. As for a bigger sneding saw, his ground saws clutch broke that morning so he was left with the 660. Glad you've enjoyed the vid as said makes a nice change to have no hot tub or greenhouse under the tree.

.philmypower.
Phil, whats a zigzag? It's a mechanical friction device, used for ascending and decending.

.philmypower.
how long does the job take , This tree was quite straight forward, took just over 3 hrs with tidy up and stacking logs. Doesn't sound long but it's a long time in a tree when your the guy climbing. However if there had been lets say a summer house under the tree it would have taken 4 times as long. scotslad
Nice job, thats my kind of climbing was never into pussy footing around greenhouses and stuff, Was about to ask wot a zig zag was, i take it it can do both ascending and decending whereas the old ones could only do 1 or other? It looked like u can take in slack with 1 hand? rather than the 2 u need for a knot Must admit have always climbed with knotsi just climb with the loop now, used to be a blake's hitch but changed to a loop and now forgot how to tie it and don't want to tie into a suicide knot Edited February 15, 2014 by scotslad
