paddymax123
hi guys I was looking at getting my fac but as I am leaving home in less then a years time when I go to join the army it doesn't seem worth the hassle right now to get a 22 rim fire, looking to get something as high powered as possible without being over 12 foot lbs that would be suitable for taking down rabbits, crows and pigeons within sensible range. I don't have a big budget so most likely a under leaver or break barrel rifle. not going to really spend more then £250 on the rifle alone if you have any suggestions please do share either positive or negative experiences with certain air rifles. evo
the hatsan range seems to suit your budget mate, night searcher will be on soon and he will sort you a full list of what guns are available for your budget,,quite helpful really atb Evo
FalconFN
Personally, I would buy a better quality second hand rifle. A Weihruch HW97 or Air Arms TX200 would be in your budget and will last a lifetime.
demonwolf444
Everyone says good things about those hatsan air rifles. I doubt ive heard a bad thing yet.. so thats something to bear in mind. The old BSA mercurys and airsporters second hand would just about fit the bill and leave you plenty of spending money. I hunt with a mercury mk 1, its been tuned, but its a very capable rifle. Also a PCP for 225 plus probably 10er postage, and then you would want some money for a scope but its good to consider that it is available within/ just over your "250" budget. http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/276952-bsa-firebird-22/
secretagentmole
The 97 and the 200 are nice rifles, problem is they are easy to tinker with rifles and so you might have had every man and his monkey fudging about with the internals. If you buy new in the box, you at least have the comfort of warranty. I like the 55 and 60 S rifles, nice break barrels sold for twice the price if the have Webley Stingray Mark 2 on them! The 55 is a .177 and the 60 is a .22! Both have a nice walnut (yes real walnut) stock, iron sights as standard, great 2 stage trigger, auto safety and anti bear trap! Theskyfox
Personally I'd look at a good second hand Weihrauch springer. Why?: -Theyre absolutely solid and will last a life time -They are simple and easy to repair/maintain -No additional power sources required -You will pick one up second hand for your budget with a decent scope -Accuracy will be comparable to that of a PCP I wouldn't go as far as making a specific recommendation though- the HW range is quite big and they range from heavyweights to lightweight carbines like the HW95k. (I say this as an owner of the HW95k) -Andrew Edited March 6, 2014 by Theskyfox
bruno22rf
Quick look on Guntrader and , if I were you, I would look at the TX200 @ £245 or the Original 45 @ £225-both brilliant guns that will outshoot most men alive.
Capital Bee
If you were after a Weihrauch, look in the Sportsmans Gun Centre website. The HW99s or HW50s seem to be in your price range and are good, full power air rifles. Having said that, I also own a Hatsan Mod 55s and that is a good, accurate air rifle. Mentalmac
I had budget air guns and I found that if you want a: Springer: Stoeger X20 Suppressor (quiet for a break barrel and cheap) PCP: Hatsan AT10 Both are going to be more heavy than expensive ones but do the same thing overall. Rimfireboy
I've got a hatstand striker, bought it for a rough knock about gun. Can't fault it, £120 I think it was, new. I've shot rats, magpies, crows, squirrels and mustelids with it. Very good for the money. Mines .25 calibre.
secretagentmole
If you shop around you can pick the 55 or 60 up for less than a £100! A hell of a lot of gun for the money!
Dekers
There is little doubt that Hatsan Semi Auto shotguns (actually most of their shotguns) are a pile of crock, but they do seem to make perfectly reasonable air rifles!

thepasty
I recently got a Stoeger X10, put on a Nikkon stirling mount master and for a £135 all up I have a cracking setup... full power, pellet on pellet accuracy at 35yrds... The gun itself is crazy value for money, I am so impressed with the quality of machining, parts etc considering the price.
secretagentmole
One thing about the Stoeger that is easy to fix is the trigger, usually they are fairly awful! That can be fixed with a Welsh Willy Trigger kit!
Rimfireboy
i got a couple of theoben's Theoben Sirocco Classic / Theoben Sirocco Countryman Very good rifles, if you could pick one up for £250?
secretagentmole
Very good rifles, if you could pick one up for £250? Picked a Sirocco up at auction for £166 and got the charging kit from Theoben for £25!

paddymax123
cheers for all the comments guys, after I went out shooting last week I got some shopping then when I arrived home I started chatting to my neighbour as I unloaded the car and we got on the topic of shooting. long story short he offered me the air rifle he had bough for his grandson who never got hooked on shooting like any normal person would. when I asked the price he said £20 would be great but as I had no cash on me we settled for regular payments in pint form to be made at the local pub to him. cant remember the name of the air rifle put it fires good solid groupings not a bad swap seeing how he paid over £100 for the rifle and sight!
