Dougy
Unbelievable, kids 3 years old. You do want to shoot a 45, it hurt her chin and her dad says do it again. Sorry don't agree , if they show interest then ok, but force kids to like them its brainless parents who need to feel big.
FatherandSon
It is pretty shocking. The guy making his 4 year old daughter fire his rifle. It's not even mounted and nearly takes her head off! Unbelievable, kids 3 years old. You do want to shoot a 45, it hurt her chin and her dad says do it again. Sorry don't agree , if they show interest then ok, but force kids to like them its brainless parents who need to feel big. Youve hit the nail on the head
team tractor
My daughter is training with a BB gun as she's 8 years old. I store it and load it for her and she loves it. My son is 5 and I'll teach him soon but it'll be a long time/years before they use firearms

pegasus bridge
The 4 year old girl who got a 44 as her first gun! Had a predictable effect on her interest in shooting.
Dougy
Can't even wipe there own backside and shooting guns that grown bloke's shy away from, I mean for goodness sake a 44 thats bigger than my 30.06 and that packs a punch.
margun
Ok the program just got upsetting :( The poor little lad who was let out at nine years old ....fine....let a kid of nine go hunting alone. But it's not "an accident" that that 'twenty two youth rifle' went off. If his parents had trained him properly in safety, that straight pull bolt would have only been cocked at the point of fire. So no missus, it wasn't "an accident". You were negligent and culpable in his death. I was taught 1) Guns should always be treated as loaded 2) Never point a gun at anything you don't want to kill and 3) Keep the gun broken/uncocked until ready to shoot (with exceptions like driven shooting but only after years of experience and discipline). I suspect that this programme will not be edited to show the sense of responsibility that good firearms training instills in kids. The 4 year old girl who got a 44 as her first gun! Had a predictable effect on her interest in shooting. .44 mag Smith and Wesson was enough to give me a headache, let alone a 4yr old

margun
Crazy, hope we never ever go down this road. Some of these fathers need certifying. Yep. Bunch of nutters quite frankly. Whilst I'm envious of the American's freedom with guns, it does tend to encourage the Walter Mitty brigade. Was just saying to 'er indoors, other countries have unregulated access, but we still come top of the pile in the Olympics, Commonwealth games etc.

ordnance
Crazy, hope we never ever go down this road. Some of these fathers need certifying. You won't have to concern yourself with that, its hard enough for adults to get firearms in the UK.

STOTTO
First off I did not watch the programme, to my mind it would have been too predictable, but did any you think that it was remotely the right way to bring children into shooting? No of course not you are all used to firearms and you know the right way, however the majority of the people that saw this would assume that this is how many children are introduced to firearms and no wonder kids and guns should not be mixed! That is the whole point of this type of show, no balance, no common sense just negative mindless drivel, by the comments it sounds as if the parents should be prosecuted for child cruelty. Scully
I haven't watched it yet, but gathered from the way it was presented in an article I read from the producers, it wouldn't be projected in a positive light, with all efforts being made to pick and edit to show examples of the worst side of gun owners. Seems I was right. Will watch it on catch up.
kiffy
i have few issues with children using guns apart from their being very well supervised , regardless of their age their being mature enough to understand the dangers and most imprtantly their wanting to do it! the nine year old girl obviously loved it, even if her dad was pushing her but the four year old girl hated it... and why would an ex soldier and lifelong hunter buy that calibre gun for his daughter... if he was going to force her into it why not use what little common sence he should have had and buy a 22 CLOWN! Dougy
To be honest if it wasn't the fact it was firearms related i would have put down in the comedy section of viewing. The muppet in a wheelchair was quite surprised when advised by his father that the 44 was a bit ott for a 4 year old. The production crew certainly picked some good ones. Muddy Funker
It didn't paint shooters in a good light for the best part, the wheelchair bloke and family were idiots. The family that let the young lad go hunting alone were idiots and are totally responsible for his death. The dad demonstrated this perfectly by banging the rifle on the ground and sending a 22 round wanging into the sky.The only half positive was the young girl, yes her dad was very tough on her but I'm sure other parents are that want their kids to excel at something. When that section started with the zombie shooting I thought oh dear, but she was actually a very good shot and from what I saw her safety and handling was also very good. birdsallpl
I only lasted about 15 minutes, started to feel very uneasy about it and found it too distressing. I'm a big fan of America generally, but afraid they have this bit very very wrong.

team tractor
If you think those kids were being pushed you need to watch the fathers at motor cross . They yell at their kids at 6 years old . The father with zombie response was the best I'd say and encouraged his daughter

Would it be fair to judge uk on CCTV program's showing drunk ness in uk cities late at night?
