srspower
We had a good day over the stubble on Sunday getting 37 Woodpigeons, 5 Feral Pigeons and a Carrion Crow
The Essex Hunter
Why don't you set your poles at the height of the net then you wont have to keep lifting the gun over the poles thus interrupting the swing.... It looks more like a grouse butt.....but a few days early..... TEH

TEH decent vid I agree you are making it harder for yourselves with the poles like that the net and the poles should be just below shoulder height, just a bit of constructive criticism Edited August 6, 2014 by yickdaz
motty
Have to agree, Tim. The hide is just all wrong. The unnecessary foliage gets in the way and the tree canopy is restrictive. Not a bad video and you did ok to shoot those pigeons with (in my opinion) a fairly poor set up.

srspower
Yeah we have had problems with the poles, I think the loops on the net are too big. Might try using some string to modify it a bit next time. Thanks for watching :-)

Might try using some string to modify it a bit next time. Thanks for watching :-) How hard is it to twist the top of the net over the pole......? A couple of examples ( but it will fall of deaf ears I recon) The hide is on the edge of the canopy allowing a better view and you are not restricted with high shots... Also the net scrim is half hitched ( that is a knot) over the poles where the extension nut is, then the outer net can be raised or lowered to suit... For a double hide you add 2 poles and come of to make a second square leaving the centre net in place.... If it is to hard for you uni boys to grasp then let me know.... magman
well done a small tip that no one else has mentioned if shooting two in a hide leave the middle pole high and make that your killing boundary if you have to shoot at the same time

Do agree with the other lads on restricting your movement also why did you use them pants air pro decoys on the magnet when you had plenty of the real McCoy lying around ? The Essex Hunter
That theory will not work as.....min 2.20 the shooter lifts the gun right up and over a hide pole...... No matter how high the pole is, the shooter will just lift the gun vertical and drop it over the other side of the pole if they so choose....... TEH I read Magman's tip as being a general suggestion and not specific to this video. Your second point really comes down to the discipline of the shooters in the hide - I know I wouldnt shoot with someone who disregarded safety measures if it suited them. Well his tip was raised once the post had been commented on and I have not seen it pinned in any part of PW Tips.........Also it you need a pole to stop a person swinging a gun then you should have never started in the first place..................!!!!! TEH As far as pinning topics goes, we often hang back on dishing out advice and defer to the members firstly because we dont pretend to know everything and secondly because irrespective of what help we may try to give there is inevitably some anorak who will try to pick holes in anything we say and turn it into a contest about who knows most just because we moderate the forum and that brings out the chippyness in some. Anyway you have your opinion and I have mine, but it looks a lot more like you are just trying to start an argument than actually have any sort of sensible discussion, so I'll leave it at that and head off out shooting I think.
