Give Nigel Teague a ring. He's only 30-40 mins away from you up the M5. A friend seriously damaged an AYA stock (insured) some time back and Nigel sorted it out. He really is a great chap and well worth the drive to meet him. HTH.

Chances are you will not find a stock that will fit as the guns are essentially hand stocked and finished . AyA do not supply pre machined stocks , I know as I have asked and I know the guys at ASI well . It will have to be restocked . Nigel Teague dose not do stocking but I will PM you with a suggestion .

Carpenter friend of mine came around for a visit this morning stroke of luck

And said " how can someone like you who cane make wonderful things from piles of rubbish be so scared of sticking two bloody bits of wood together "

Gave me some magic glue and we set about preping gluing and clamping

All left alone now in the garage with strict don't touch instructions

He recons its more likely to fail elsewere than the repair site well nothing to lose so I'll just see what happens

Oh thanks for all the help

Yeah I think you're right I'm going to see if I can run a pin down through the stock and brace the action with it

Took the clamps off (against orders) a minute ago and I can't force it apart

Neither can my 20 year old son (rugby player ex national level swimmer) so I'm guessing we've got a sound repair

Now I've just got to make it look like nothing ever happened

The hard bit I'm thinking

Your best bet is probably to strip the finish off back to bare wood. Clean the squeeze out off from the break. If there are any small gaps in the joint you could fill them by using a small amount of ordinary wood glue then a fine sandpaper with the glue still wet, the wood dust will act like a filler (midway USA on youtube have a video of filling pin hole knots). Then either lightly stain the wood if you want it dark or just apply a oil finish. Plenty on here about refinishing stocks if you haven't done it before.

I would say to do the forend at the same time as you won't get the colour to match.

What glue did you use?

Don't really know what glue it is apparently special magic carpenters glue my mate gave me

I'm guessing its similar to gorrila glue looking at the run out

I've watched the videos and am plodding on the ironic thing is I just ordered some perma blue to do the barrels

So a little tidy up has turned into a big re furb in 1 bang

I would welcome clarification on your Nigel Teague statement.

I shoot regularly with the man who took his AYA stock to Nigel Teague to be rebuilt. Perhaps Nigel Teague may not personally have done the work. But it is an indisputable fact that it went in to his workshop damaged and came out A1.

cascamite? as far as I know it's always been cascamite, mix the powder with water, after a while it goes rubbery, then hard as glass. used it all the time when I was a 'prentice in the joinery shop.
