M ROBSON
Yes, The .410's velosity is the same as any other shotgun, pattern will let you down though. Pattern the gun and see where it starts to get patchy and use that as your max range. My guess is about 15 yards. Mark.

Just keep the range down
bobt
Yes at close range. a mate shot a fox last year with a FAC air rifle, (it was 10 foot away and died instantly) not that I would reccomend it.
flash
one of my old friends was out after rabbits with his 410 webley, and took a fox with it at aroun 15 yrds, as someone said before, u have less pellets, and therefore a smaller pattern. Devon Fox
I definitely would, if the fox was close enough! Do not underestimate the killing power of the 4-10, tis a lethal round when put in the right place.
mossy835
i was out last year in the corn and saw a fox, about 10 yards i had 410 gauge reducers in my 12 gauge 3" and killed it.

Blackbart
Foxes dont carry shot very well it would die anyway at a reasonable rang even if you didnt kill it outright.Iwould prefer to use something heavier on it,BUT a dead fox is a dead fox so yes shoot it.we have all shot things and seen them disapear into the distance so why should a fox be any different. We dont do it on purpose but it does happen. tosspot
have shot many with .410 and will continue to do so
Ferret Master
You said at close range with BB's. At the given range you would be better using smaller shot like 3's as not only does this still have enough penetration but you will have a better pattern considering you are using a lighter .410 load. dusk2dawn
as per title, if the opertunity arose would you shoot a fox with a .410 full ckoke using 3inch bb's ? Yes without a doubt, but within 20yds or so. Try a 3" cartridge on a plank and see the effect, with full choke it will make a mess of it. its only the range that restricts them, D2D

Paul in North Lincs.
I wouldnt actively go out to shoot reds with a 410 but if one ventured into range 10-15 yards (which would happen bery often).then I would shoot it.......... no problem..................alot of people underestimate the power of the 12b's smaller cousin...................they are a very effective hunting tool
