Pigeon Paul
I first thought mouse but its tail seems large for a mouse now to me so I am doubting my first thought! Fully agree. The tail tells me there are both rats!
Berettacocker
Been killing a few rats in the partridge pens, last couple of weekends under straw bales. Killed a fair few old and young, and as Rodney Trotter would say, " it's a RAT! "

JDog
Good one Fenboy. However I am not changing my Forum name yet as I truly believe that the second picture shows a house mouse. sako751sg
I would say both rats but can see why some are convinced the juve is a hoose moose.Think the tail is too short but apart from that it is pretty hard to distinguish. Berettacocker
Just get her a couple of these...work a treat.. birds can feed in peace. I shouldn't worry too much about Weils unless she likes to lick the paving slabs or bird table there's not much risk of contracting it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pestbye-Rat-Zinger-Electronic-Killer-Electric-Trap-Zapper-Rodent-Battery-Powered-/230916804796?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item35c3b6d0bc what about a cut on your finger, or touching urine and putting your finger in your mouth/ eating etc. a friend taking down pens, moving feeders/ drinkers was close to death with weils after rolling fags with rats pee on his fingers! So don't be blasé about rats!

So don't be blasé about rats! I quite agree , it only needs a small cut etc or as you say eating without washing your hands etc , it can be fatal and can be easily mis diagnosed. So don't be blasé about rats! I caught weils about 12 years ago and it was horrendous.Wouldnt go to hospital and only got the quack up to the hoose but after about a week they rushed me in and straight on to the drip.Luckily the fella that saw me within an hour sussed it pretty much straight away and i couldnt fault them.Very lucky compared to some folks that have it though. Mentalmac
One of our technicians when I was a pest control surveyor got it even tough he wore gloves... Why? Because he used same PDA to mark what he'd found with the gloves on and then took gloves off and wrote on PDA that he was having lunch... Etc... lurchers
They say 50% of rats carry weils disease but you would have to get it checked to find out if it has or not.

aga man
A good friend of mine almost died from weils disease a couple of years ago. He is a drainage/jetting operative and despite doing it many years and always wearing PPE etc the doctors believe he was splashed in the eye Just another good reason to kill rats whenever possible. For the record i believe the second picture is a mouse but with no sense of scale it is difficult to gauge it's size.

loriusgarrulus
Both rats. Face is too chubby on second one for a mouse of that size. Also the tail is thick and short in comparison to the body size. Slight fluffiness of the coat all says baby rat. I used to breed fancy rats years ago. The domestic varieties make good intelligent pets.
Dougy
30.06 body shoot while there feeding, then send off bits in a jiffy bag to forensics to check dna, but I'm sure there both rats.
