Gay Marrage.

The people in the Republic of Ireland have just voted to legalise gay marriage. That leaves Northern Ireland as the only country / region in the UK where gay marriage is still illegal. Are we behind the times, or should we be happy that we have not went down that road. ?

It just shows how backward & stuck in their ways that some of our politicians are.

Danger mouse: my job is directly involved in weddings and I can assure you that it's not outdated, it's more busy now than it always was.

Some of the nicest and most genuine people I know are Gay and I don't believe that I have the right to judge them or deny them the same chances of happiness that we all have-love is love wherever you find it-all the same I'm glad you left "I" out of the gay "marrage" heading.

Don't worry about my bad spelling.

That may be so, but its nothing to do with the question. If you believe in gay marriage weather they are nice or not is irrelevant.

I can understand why many of strong religious belief would object, but then I can't really understand why people are so strongly religious, but as with gay people they should be free of judgement of others, (apart from the omnipotent divine being(s) in the case of the religious of course), who happen to see the world differently.

Good for Ireland in voting yes, to answer the op I think that NI is probably behind the times and that position will probably change soon.

Knowing the way things work here I wouldn't bet on that happening.

Surely the real argument here is actually equal rights for all men and women without discrimination verses the right to uphold religious beliefs?

Now what does Sharia law say on this one......?

lol

Well that`s easy then.

If the priest/vicar refuses to marry a gay couple just sue the church.

no I don't agree with it sorry

Personally for me marriage is between a man and a woman, what irritates me is if you have that view you get shouted down. Why should you be sorry for having a different view, that goes against the PC populist view. Everyone has a right to their own view on the subject.
