What you have to realise as well, although it may be illegal nowadays to discriminate, publicly slag off or otherwise abuse gays a lot of folk simply don't like it. No amount of laws will, or can, change that. He's simply stated his beliefs, which he's perfectly entitled to hold.

+1...I've been saying for a long time that you cannot legislate human nature out of existence.

I never knew he made such comments. He is a nice enough bloke, a regular at a pub near my home. I never knew who he was, until a mutual friend decided to play a practical joke on me. I did not think it was funny at the time, as i got a bit worried, it has to be said. Since then we have a laugh every time he sees me... ;)

The BBC is hetrophobic to the extreme. Given that gay men are a small % of the poulation they seem rife on TV and radio.

As an aside it's odd how lesbians are extremely unlikely to have "interaction" with children. How many "rings" of paedophilia are made of women ? none

Don't be ridiculous, there are plenty of documented cases.

I actually agree with that very strongly, banning what people say in public has no bearing on what they think in private. It would be better for everyone to get what they want to say out in the open and give it an airing and be done with it. I really don't understand Homophobia, Im not gay, as my two ex wives and numerous girlfriends will testify, but I love the company of gay men socially. I worked in an industry where lots of the men were gay and they were all funny, charming, witty individuals and usually very talented. Whats there to be phobic about?

It's so easy being a white middle class man,

What a nasty thing to say, and on a public forum too.

It's classist, and as such hurts my feelings. I demand an immediate retraction or you will leave me no alternative but to start a petition to have your thoughts censored.

How very dare you.

You dare not say anything about gays or lesbians.Or any other creed or colour in this country or you are phobic of some kind and wrong. seems the only people you can criticise or speak against without fear or retribution in any way is a white Christian English man/woman who leads a normal heterosexual life.freedom is a wonderful thing can't wait for it to land here

I find it hard to credit that this stupid thread ever got started. Fury has some odd views, but I don't know the views of other contenders for Sports Personality - I suspect few have one.If people don't like him - they should not vote for him. Demanding that he is removed from a list is attempting to force others to agree with your view.Pathetic.
