Free Fibre Cartridges to Shoot

Recommended Posts

I was able to meet up with George Young of Proper Cartridges on Saturday.

After swapping cash for cartridges, he gave me some of his new shells to try.

George has loaded some 32g Fibre Wadded 5 1/2s and boy do they shoot well.

They are far too good for decoying woodpigeons.

I will continue with his 28g 6s for decoying, but will have to get some of these monsters for the high driven pheasants.

Has any one else tried the shells he handed out over the Bank hoilday weekend?

sitinhedges you should have replyed I met him in kettering..

3 boxes cartridges

and will let you know if they are as good as stated

He must have liked you more than Mr Dave Tightchokes ;)

I wasn't bothered about a couple of boxes of freebies, I wanted to buy a case or more to try. I was asking too much.

I find the whole proper cartridges affair quite amusing. Lots of people clamouring for some free shells that are no better than anything else on the shelf. I reminded myself why I buy any old cheap cartridges, earlier - they kill well and they are cheap!

I don't need someone telling me that their cartridges are loaded with the world's best components to try and sell them to me.

But I guess you appreciate that there is a difference between cartridges and that often the same shell can be a two different price points? Then surely if someone is producing good quality product at the price you might pay for inferior shells then we all want some? Not bothered about the free shells myself but I use a lot and anything that gets a better shell at a lower price is good for me.

Get over your problem!

I was meeting George for another 2000 of his shells, the addition of a couple of boxes of something I would not normally shoot was a bonus.

I am glad that George gets around and meets a lot of people, you seem to be making it very difficult to meet up with him, why, I don't know!

He is a likeable old rogue and makes great shells at a reasonable price. Personally I hope he makes a great success of the business.

Re post # 11. We don't really need to keep telling us how good a shot you are and how many miles you've driven to shoot them, but you do.

George was only offering some free samples for a bit of feedback from the users and he is getting slated for it. This situation is akin to the Aesop's fable of the miller and the donkey.

I would have had a few to try and if they are as good as the "normal brands" at a comparable price I would probably by some, if one of my local rfd stoked them i would defiantly buy them as I would prefer to help out the little guy who helps me.

Ok my few hundred a year isn't going to make anyone rich but if it helps keep them going its worth it

First experience of dealing with George but he's been spot on. Met locally, much closer than any gun shop to me.

Cheaper shells than I can buy out the shop, free fibre cartridges to try and can buy some primers for my reloading.

Look as well loaded as anything else and in a way of rather fund a British based one man band than a large company.

I have delt with george once myself only primers and some shot. But he was very helpfull and gave me a few tips. I even got a box of his 32g 6s to try and i must admit they are very good.

He is a decent helpfull bloke.

I can garuntee if everyone got the free samples they wouldnt be moaning as much. Cut the guy some slack he is doing his best to make him self a living and produce some decent affordable rounds. Some people do need to grow up.

I do aknoledge there are some cheaper out there but they lack in performance.

So maybe instead of slating the guy for what he is doing encourage him.

Motty whilst I do not disagree with you or shoot enough these days to worry about a few quid on the price of cartridges mainly preferring my 28ga and satisfaction of reloading, but having followed george on PW since he arrived and at first was amused It is obvious george is competing in a very full market with lots of choice at first his methods did look unusual to say the least but he is manufacturing and selling direct to the user so should be able to be cheaper or offer the best components and on top of that is offering a service where he can of delivering direct to the user. How many other manufacture offer free samples? So It must be making the other manufacture take note so carry on george.

Fortune my post was number 11 at what point or where have I slated George or his carts or where have I said how great a shot I am? I have used proper cartridges in the past still have some of his clay carts as when I visited his factory I bought what stock he had left of them.

So if you wouldn't mind explaining how and where I keep telling you all how good a shot I am.

I imagine that post was aimed at me, despite my post being no.11. I haven't posted how great a shot I am, however. There is nothing wrong with George's cartridges and they are not badly priced. I just found it amusing how people seemed to be falling over themselves to get some freebies. One question George didn't answer. I asked him what made the components he uses the best.

Figgy and Motty  I have read these posts again and I cant see anything about shooting skills or otherwise.

Sometimes with this stuff its easy to see something and read something else lol.

I have just sent George an e mail as I am going to need some soon. Not sure he delivers down here (just south of bristol).

Fair post and would we buy them if George told us that they were the biggest load of garbage on the planet?
