MrPhantom
A couple that spring to mind that are way better than the originals: Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen) Johnny Cash - Hurt (NIN)
Scully
Pretty much anything Eva Cassidy covered was better than the original. Fields of Gold (sting) and Somewhere over the Rainbow (Judy Garland ) and Time after time (Cindy Lauper ) spring to mind. Yeah, think I'd have to agree with that. Gordon R
Normally I find covers not up to the original. These are the exceptions:- Everlasting Love - Love Affair. Beggin' - Timebox. Sun ain't gonna shine anymore - Walker Brothers. I say a little prayer - Aretha Franklin. My Girl - Otis Redding, although the Temptations version was brilliant. Wishing on a Star - Paul Weller. joe1978
I'm a big fan of covers. The streaming services make them dead easy to find as well (Spotify etc). The Dermot O'Leary Saturday sessions albums have a good few ones, one of my favourites being Gomez' cover of Wichita Lineman. Saying that The Killers do a great version of Ruby Don't take your love...
